Advantaliate : Advance or retaliate first

Hey.
Whats the best order when advantaliating in a boss only battle ? I usually retaliate, and the rest of the party buff and debuff, for the first turn, then 2nd turn advance, and time my other characters attacks for just after advance fires. Next turn my advantaliater uses his damage ability/attack, and from there its the normal retalite/break, attack, attack cycle for everyone.
