Kid
Kid’s very similar to Vaan as a breaker with 160% fire imperil, with the 89% break swapped from def to spr, and two killers compared to his one, but at a slightly lower potency. The main boon she has over him is her 30% fire amp field, but overall we felt this wasn’t enough to separate the two, especially with the slight awkwardness of it being a both-slots field. So, Kid gets the same rating as him as 30.0
Serge
It may be boring, but it’s certainly effective currently. Bringing the first 150% self-amp of the coming wave and combining it with their field for a massive 180% amp along with self-sufficient weapon imperil and focus buff lets Serge hit for an impressive 57.9t with his light magic SLB, which nets a rating of 31.0. As we start seeing 150% burst amps get more common, I imagine he’ll get crowded out a bit though, and being hardlocked to one element is inflexible.
Lynx
Lynx is pretty much Serge if you found and replaced all the instances of “Light” with “Dark” along with a few race swaps. So naturally Lynx’s damage is….. Significantly lower??
See, both Serge and Lynx bring a 30% spear imperil for themselves, but while Serge provides a nice 2H magic spear as his STMR, Lynx does no such thing. Without Yshe/Sakura STMR available, he has to choose between a 2H Rod / other magic weapon with no imperil, a 1H magic spear, or a 2H attack spear. Surprisingly under current build rules, the last option actually wins, but puts him almost 1700 mag lower than Serge, leaving his damage at 44.8t for a 30.5 rating. Obviously if you have the spear for him, they’ll be very close, but that’s an extra requirement that some people’s pulls won’t have been kind enough to give them.
One other discussion that these two have sparked is that next time damage dealers get a rebuild/rerate wave, we’re now planning to add a small penalty to units like these whose main burst is hard locked to a particular element. Magic ones will probably also have a slightly bigger penalty than physical ones that at least have the option to mix. There also may be a separate deduction for those who’re limited to a single burst at max power (such as because of a single use amp grandis) with no followup option that’s a decent fraction of it. This one’s a bit more up in the air though, since our existing double burst bonus does partially capture that split.
