This seems like fairly common wisdom now, but it’s something I could’ve benefitted from earlier, and especially with Tifa fragments on their way out today, merits spelling out.

Every banner we get 30 fragments from login rewards for the new NV unit(s). Eventually (usually just after that banner) you can buy additional fragments from VIP coins in the shop. You should always buy the necessary 20 to get you to 50, even if you didn’t pull the unit on the banner, or don’t think you’re going to want/need the unit.

Why? Because eventually you may pull that unit, and find you are without enough fragments to get their Braveshift/Card, and here’s the thing: you will have no other way to get those missing fragments, short of lucking into another copy. ESPECIALLY given that there is no regularity to the fragment dungeon. And you never know when a unit will suddenly become relevant in DV or CoW or some other. I’ve had this happen to me already with King Behemy and Kaktiria, two units that would’ve been incredibly useful to me these past months in BS form, and I’ve been sitting on them at EX 0 because I was too naive or not paying attention to throw some VIP coins at their fragments.

It never hurts to just get 20 fragments for each new NV as they become available. For non-premium units they are pretty cheap and we get enough VIP coins dripped to us that there’s no excuse not to.

NOTE: this only applies to new NV units, not the NVA units that typically have other sources of fragments and that you can always UOC in a pinch.
