When thinking of CB Noctis, many would immediately think of his light elemental jump big burst damage. Such fixation leads to the assumption that CB Noctis is not an optimal choice for Scorn of Amon trial or even at all. Ardyn has been a much more preferred unit due to his GLEX Upgrade non-elemental jump. Well... Let me introduce to you:

Scorn of Amon [Hard Mode]: 6 Turns All Missions with Cobalt Blade Noctis!

How does this work?

There are three main reasons why CB Noctis works:

1. He has a sh*t loads of Undead killers (150% innate and 150% active buff)

This means you would have a lot of empty materia/ equipment slots which could be used for elemental resistance and mitigation (e.g. sources of auto-shell) to gear for survivability without hampering his damage too much.

2. Non-elemental LBs

Yes. The core of this strategy revolves around Noctis' LBs which provide 25% sword imperil in normal form and very competent 125x modifier in BS form. Because the LB is non-elemental, you can switch element on the fly to deal with Amon's shifting elemental weaknesses. On top of these, Noctis can buff his LB by 150% for a good 6 turns and the buffs cannot be dispelled.

3. True Braveshift

The beauty of true braveshift unit is that they can alternate between normal and braveshift forms without turn cooldown. Thus, simply alternating between forms, Noctis can re-proc all skills that auto-cast at the beginning of battle. These skills include:

• "To walk Tall...": auto fill his LB to full
• "Tentacle tolerance" (from Anti-decay Amulet): increase resistance to all breaks for 3 turns
• "Spirit of Calligraphy" (from Dragon's Brush): increase ATK by 240% for 3 turns

That means CB Noctis' LB becomes spammable as it is automatically filled without external support every other turn while his break resistance and ATK buffs are continually refreshed. This strategy counters well the AoE dispel from Amon after 50% HP threshold.

What if my Noctis is not as strong as in the video?

In the video demonstration, the total damage dealt on Amon is approximately 3.3B so you have very good chance of success running the exact same setup or slightly weaker setup (Noctis ex2 and ex3).

For lower ex levels and less optimal gear, you simply switch out dragon-brush and replace it with Craftman's Secret Book. Here is an alternate rotation for Noctis that finishes on turn 7 or 8 (instead of 6) which can deal more damage

• Turns 1-4: same as video
• Turn 5: shift back to normal and use "Windy Bellow" (dispel both Noctis first)
• Turn 6: Chosen King's Encouragement
• Turn 7: BS LB
• Turn 8: 2x Royal Cleave Legacy of Lucii

Can I replace X unit with Y unit?

Comment: technically any competent breakers work. However, since Amon has no stat passives, 85% break and below would mean you may not be able to finish within 8 turns.

Dethroned Heroine Ashe

Suggested alternative options: MMXon with Reflect Ring, Kryla with Reflect Ring

Comment: DH Ashe is just a neat and simple solution to trivialize all Amon's white magic spells, specially when you dont have Reflect Ring (like me T_T). She doesnt do anything special besides that so you can replace her with any support unit of choice that can nullify a spell and wear a reflect ring.

Elric Brothers

Suggested alternative option(s): Poppy

Comment: Elric Brothers are quite hard to be replaced for this fight as they can replace elemental imbues without removing other buffs while being a decent short of chip damage.
