Collab units TMR & STMR ratings
Post Body

Hi everyone !

As the news revealed, we're going to get a free collab unit which bring lots of excitement, but also questions on who to pull for, which I wanted to bring some light on.

This post isn't about unit's strength/utility, as I'm sure plenty of more knowledgeable fellow redditors will make a proper analysis when we'll have full data on 7* and enhancements, but to give a slight nudge to those who'd rather pull with TMR/STMR in mind, or help decide if you hesitate between units.

Because Trust shop, Omniprism, and STMR moogle are a thing, you may rather spend those resources on time limited units, so without further due, here's a table of what I deem good investments for either new/veteran players. Of course it varies depending on your already available roster/STMRs, but let's try to be objective.

How I rank : S tier = Sugoii, go for it and don't look back, A tier = Amazing in many situations, B = Bro, it's good but not must haves, C = Cheh.

Unit Trust shop prism TMR STMR TMR rank STMR rank Comments
Rico RodriguezRico Rodriguez - (Accessory) ATK 40, physical evasion 25%, 20% ATK (JC only) (1H Gun) ATK 175, %TDW; Boost LB damage (Rico only), A A ATK wise, they are both in the good ranges for their type, and the extra they provide is amazing, and you'll mostly use them because of those extra. You can find similar replacement elsewhere but they are good investments if you don't have them.
2B2B (1H Katana) ATK 130, MP 20% (Materia) ATK 40% with sword, katana, spear; Human phy & mag killer 50% C A Not that many spear user sadly, but you're assured a decent attack and the killer is nice in this Dark Visions era, also Human are a common trial boss race. B tier for most situations, but S tiers when all the criteria fit.
A2A2 (1H GW) ATK 125, DEF 20% (Materia) ATK 80% with GS, Machine phy & mag killer 50% C A A sexy STMR as there are many GS users out there, but still quite conditional. The machine killer is welcome but there are already a number of those killer materia, though quite rare for magic units.
EllyElly - (1H Rod) ATK 32, MAG 120, MAG 20% (Materia) MAG 60% with rod; fire, water, wind, earth resistance 60% C S- Wow okay, that's a lot of resists, 240% in a single materia is super rare and your tank is gonna love it when those resists are required, even if only 2 are needed it's already a slot well earned. The MAG is the cherry on the top of the iceberg (?), nowadays it's not that hard to find a 60%, but making your squishy mage viable? yes please. I put S- because of the Rod restriction, not every mages favor those.
MariaMaria - (Hat) DEF 30, MAG 52; Light 40% (Materia) MP 30%, MAG 30%; MAG 30% with Rod,; 5LB/turn B B Good stats and side utility on the hat, but nothing to write home about. Maria's STMR is great for LBvore units, but I wouldn't rely on that for DPS, and for supports you'd rather bring bulk stats alongside.
CitanCitan - (Materia) ATK 30% with katana, fist; 50% TDH (1H Katana) ATK 176, ATK 20%, Human phy & mag killer 75% B A TDH is becoming easier to get, and the both conditions alongside are hard to meet. You'd rather bring a 100% TDH materia with a 60% ATK one. Amazing katana in the likes of Zeno's one.
BartBart - (1H Whip) ATK 135; machine phy killer 50% (Materia) ATK 60%, LB Fill 100%, Machine phy & mag killer 50% B A Having a killer attached to it makes the whip decent in rare situations. The materia will shine in any Machine killer fights.
FeiFei - (Materia)ATK 20%, DEF 20%; ATK 30% with clothes; 5% MP regen/turn (Clothes) HP 1200, ATK 30, DEF 25, SPR 25; ATK 50% with fists B A Decent ATK on materia with some goodies, but conditional is never very exciting, at least it's on clothes and many physical attackers can were those. Amazing piece of clothe for fist users, arguably as good as Madam's STMR, less e-peen but more viability.
SophiaSophia - (1H Rod) ATK 28, MAG 135; 5% MP regen & 100% counter (Sophia only) (Accessory) MAG 60, SPR 60; Fire ( 30%); MP 20% & MAG 50% (Sophia only) C B Very sexy accessory giving some bulk to your mage, even though most of the time you'll favor Nutkin Hairpin to stack MAG, or TDW/TDH accessories. It shines if you can easily cap MAG or you need some bulk / fire res.
RenaRena (1H Fist) ATK 20, SPR 110, MP 30%; 5% MP regen (Accessory) SPR 54, SPR 10%; 5% MP regen; All status ailments resistance; LB 2/turn. C A Amazing accessory for supports, magical tanks & monks. It's S tier worth, but there are many other good bulk accessory with more %SPR and %HP on those, and those stats are quite hard to cap so this is where I find the accessory a bit lackluster. Not a must have, but you'll find lots of use if you do.
FaytFayt (1H Sword) ATK 135; Light element (Clothes) ATK 38, DEF 20, SPR 20; 50% ATK with sword, 2LB/turn B A Elemental weapon of a common type, always welcome but not groundbreaking. BiS chest piece for sword user who can wear clothes, if they don't wear fists as well otherwise Madam's STMR is better. Still will have lots of uptime and will challenge Luneth's STMR when resistance is not needed or you have a hard time capping ATK by finding bulk elsewhere. Because a future free unit will give a similar Clothe, I wouldn't advise investing in it though.
Adam JensenAdam Jensen (Materia) 20% TDW, 30% ATK with gun, sword, throwing weapon, fist (Clothes) ATK 35, DEF 20, SPR 20; 50% ATK with gun B A Conditional 60% ATK materia, the low TDW is forgettablej, at least make it 25% so that it stacks with other 25% TDW stuff! BiS chest piece for gun users if they don't hold fist as well, but there are not that common.
ViktorViktor Marchenko (Materia) HP 20%, DEF 30%, Auto-heal (1800HP, 1x)/turn, MP regen 10%/turn) (Materia) DEF 80% with heavy armor; immunity to sleep, paralyze, confuse, petrify B B Both decent chunk of bulk. The STMR is great for non-evadable builds, but let's be honest, most trials can be cheesed by evasion. If it wouldn't have been locked to H.Armor I'd have considered it good to put on supports when dealing with fixed aoe attacks, but here? meh. I'd rather suggest using I Love Chocobos! when you need the ailment resistance and some bulk.
LennethLenneth - (1H Sword) ATK 135, Dark Element (2H Bow) ATK 160, SPR 30 B B Elemental weapon of a common type, always welcome but not groundbreaking. The Bow... has the highest ATK on a bow. And that's about all there is to say. Physical bow users assemble ! *sees no one raising hand* Yepp.
FreyaFreya - (Accessory) MAG 55, MP 20% (Hat) DEF 40, MAG 50, SPR 50, HP 30%; immunity to silence, petrify B S- Decent accessory, but Nutkin Hairpin is arguably better and on a 4* unit. WOW, that hat? THAT BULK?? I don't see any mage & support who wouldn't love it, except if you need specific elemental resistance, even then you'd have to consider if the ailment resistance still don't make it worth the slot. I know Hairpin of purity is a thing, but I consider it S tier too.
ArngrimArngrim - (Accessory) ATK 40; 30% Light resistance; 10% physical evasion (2H GS) ATK 165; Lightning element; 30% LB damage B B Okayish accessory giving some bulk to a physical attacker. The GS used to be S tier, people used to mortgage their house for this STMR. But let's be real, TDH is so 2019. Being locked to an element on a 2H weapon is a 99% nop situation. Either you have a friend also equipped with it and bring him in a very specific trial, or you're using AK Rain (and it's so 2019). The ATK is quite low for nowadays 2H standards, the LB damage is low, the variance is low... Why couldn't you be the Black Sparky of the GS! I'm putting a B and not B because TDH is getting kinda revived in the future with 400% Cap.
Lezard ValethLezard Valleth - (Robe)DEF 28, MAG 55, SPR 42; 50% Dark (Lezard only) (Rod) MAG 168; 20% MP ; 50% mTDH C A Better alternative free robes out there. His Rod is a Tsukiko's STMR dupe, TDW is still a bit hard to build for mages, so I consider it a good Rod with some TDH which helps stacking %MAG and bulk elsewhere.
MystinaMystina - (Rod) MAG 140; MP usage -20% (Mystina only) (Materia) MAG 80%; fire, wind, and dark resistance 80% C S Better alternative free rods out there. This STMR!! is a thing of beauty. It's like Elly's STMR but better. Stupidly high elemental resistance for 3 elements for a total of 240%, and unconditional 80% MAG means even your picky magicians (FW Physalis and the likes) and hybrid will LOVE it.

Of course it's quite a subjective ranking, but I tried to be in the shoes of everyone when rating. We can never agree on every ratings and I'm sure many will argue on a few choices, please feel free to do so ! I still hope this will help some in your pulls when the time comes :)
