Introduction
Hi all, based on the original post about Enhanced Aurora Fryevia, I received many interesting ideas about team compositions regarding Fryevia and Aurora Fryevia as well as Elena. The most interesting one for me was by u/Rune905
Is Original Fryevia's T-casting Aurora Storm 38x any good in practice?
OG Fryevia's Aurora Storm 38x
A.Fryevia's Aurora Storm 31x
Elena adds an extra 9x to Aurora Storm to the Fryevias, buffing them up to a 47x & 40x respectively. While Elena can spam the same skill for a 34x not counting the extra 10X she gets from her LB which brings it to 44x for the next 2 turns. They all sound too good in paper so I was just wondering.
All in all, the Aurora Storm mechanic was not new. It was introduced with the release of AFryevia as unique unlocked skill when both Frye and AFrye are in the same battle. This mechanic was quickly forgotten as quickly as AFrye's time in the lime light. Gumi tried to bring it back with Elena arrival through her Celestial Guidance which boosted Aurora Storm mods but by then, the mods of Aurora Storm fell way behind Elena's fully boosted Blade of Crystal.
With the latent abilities for Fryevia and awesome AFrye enhancements, Aurora Storm seems to get some interesting boost so I decided to use the half energy event to test out how this mechanic fairs with some trials.
Damage demonstration
Overview of the series is as follow:
- Scorn of Gilgamesh (00:00 - 1:05): 1 turn
- Scorn of the Legendary Stag (1:10 - 3:35): 4 turns
- Scorn of the Lich (4:05 - 7:20): 4 turns
- Scorn of the Beast of the Dark (7:29 - 11:45): 5 turns
- Scorn of the Octopus and the Teacher (12:07 - 18:03): 5 turns
Perspectives
As seen from the damage demonstration, the damage by the current fully stacked Aurora Storm by AFrye and Fryevia together with Aurora Tempest by Elena is relatively decent. However, the mechanic still remains mostly as experimental and somewhat gimmicky strategy for personal exploration rather than a practical one due to the following reasons
- Celestial Guidance is a 6 turn CD with 3-turn boosts in mod so the high damage cannot be sustainably maintained
- To have 3 damage dealers mean you have one less slot for support, making your team composition unstable for trickier fights
- If you are to use 3 damage dealers, you will be better off with 2 chainers and one finisher in term of damage
Nonetheless, I had a fun time playing around with the Fryes and Elena, making it all worth it. F*** meta. Period.
Bonus - Sharing my experience with Fryevia Aurora Fryevia combo
This duo is just weird due to the mismatch in turns of effect of Allez! II and Gift of Daylight 2. It is game and all for the first 5 turns. Everything becomes messy after that. Having said that, I managed to work out a rotation to make both skill sets aligned better but even so, the damage is just not worth the effort. Furthermore, Fryevia squishiness easily throws everything off when she dies, especially for later trials that do uncoverable/ unprovokable fixed damage.
Surprisingly, Fryevia Freezing Tempest II pairs better with Elena Blade of Crystal due to Elena's constant T-Cast, making it way easier to align both rotations. For new players, owning a Fryevia with full latent abilities can be an option given that Elena is still the popular friend units out there.
