Should I Farm That - Grave Hexivus (Halloween Elemental Battle)

A bit late week thanks to my back acting up again. Nothing like a 3 week coughing fit to cause your back to go out...

For a company adamant that gacha isn't gambling, Gumi sure is obsessed with adding their own version of gambling equipment. First we got roulette and now we have a slot machine. So in honor of this recent development, I'm using RNG to determine the writing style of each of gear I review in this post.

  • 25%: In depth analysis.
  • 25%: Useless trivia.
  • 25%: Angry rant.
  • 25%: RNG on top of RNG: 25% puns, 25% alliteration, 25% poop jokes, 25% a bunch of lies

I'm dead serious about this. I'll honor whatever the double coin flip dictates. (heads-heads: first option, head-tails: second option, tail-heads: third option, tails-tails: fourth option). I requested the lounge to do the coin flips for me so I can't cheat on this.

Also, last week a lot of the comment discussion was about the ratings I assigned rather than actual discussion of the gear. I never really wanted to do ratings but it makes the tl;dr section much easier to read. So I'm going to try a new rating system this week. I'll rate impact (how much of an improvement this will be in reasonable situations) and likelihood you'd use it...

...that's what I planned. I tried to implement it and said "fuck this shit" and switched back to the old ratings. So instead, I'm normalizing my ratings with specific conditions:

Potential BiS: Under most normal circumstances, this will be BiS for maximizing damage or eHP. This rating ignores comparisons to STMRs and limited TMRs (unless they are on the same banner).

Very good: Very good chance that you'll have it equipped on some unit in your party during a trial. Significantly better gear is either limited or STMR.

Good: Decent chance that you'll have it equipped on some unit in your party during a trial regardless of strategy. Significantly better gear is either limited or trapped behind a rainbow (TMR or STMR).

Very good but niche: Extremely good gear but you won't necessarily use it all the time. Extremely high elemental resists, very strong killers, high evade, or draw attacks falls under this category. Significantly better gear is either limited or STMR.

Niche: Good gear with situational uses. Most good elemental gear (resist or weapons) falls in this category. Significantly better gear is either limited or trapped behind a rainbow (TMR or STMR).

Very niche: Good but the use cases are very unlikely to come up outside of unconventional strategies.

Newbie Gear: Decent for starting players. These are generally worse than TMRs from 3/4 star units, or rewards from easy trials (easy with strong friend unit).

Trash: Pretty much only collectors will want these. They are outclassed by easily obtained gear or too weak to matter.

Wolf Claws - Replica
[fist]: 50 ATK, dark element, 2H (1.4-1.6 dmg var, 50% acc)

u/Bountiful_Voodoo got heads-heads so it's a deep dive review.

The current damage formula gives a 0.768 modifier for the attack. Combined with the 1.5 average damage variance, that's a 1.15x combined modifier.

Let's compare this to Lila's Claws of Darkness (rainbow TMR, 130 ATK, 30 SPR, dark element, 1H). No weapon variance boost from a 1H weapon so damage modifier from damage formula is 0.94. That means Wolf Claws - Replica does 22.3% more damage assuming same ATK (not a safe assumption). Assuming same build other than the weapon, you'd expect 320 more ATK (with 300% TDH) with Lila's TMR. It'll do more damage as long as the build with Wolf Claws - Replica has less than 3022 total ATK. IOW, you need to have really good gear for this to be better than a 1H weapon.

Let's see how it compares to Fatal Knuckles (4 star TMR, 130 ATK, 2H). Damage formula and variance together gives a combined modifier of 1.409. That's 22.4% more damage. With the additional 320 ATK from TDH and assuming the Wolf Claws - Replica build has 2600 ATK, you're looking at a total of 54% more damage. Of course, that's before any dark imperils come into play. Wolf Claws - Replica will win out whenever you have an imperil higher than 52%.

I look forward to the non-replica version of this. If it's 100 ATK and 2H, it'd be a very good dark weapon.

It's only useful when dark is the optimal element and you can't imbue (external or from kit) so this gets the niche rating.

Dreadreaper's Scythe
[spear]: 30 ATK/MAG, 2H (1-1.6 dmg var, 50% acc), dark element

u/u3030 got tails-head so it's angry rant time!

I'm glad Gumi named this Dreadreaper's Scythe because I was risk of confusing it for the Delightfulreaper's Scythe or the Benignreaper's Scythe.

Hey Alim/Gumi. WTF is with the variance on 2H spears? Do you know how fucking irritating it is to wait until after the data mine drops to be able to verify I did the math with the right goddamn average variance? Other than this new item, there are only 5 fucking 2H spears in the game. Variance on them are 1.3, 1.25, 1.3, 1.25, 1.3. Guess which ones are only 1.25x avg damage variance? It's the fucking STMRs of Cid and Nalu. You know, the ones that are supposed to be the best 2H spears in the game. What brain dead rat fucker decided that made any sense? Bastards probably also tie their shoe laces the bunny ear way.

There's only one other 2H dark spear in the game and it's really a dark/fire spear and has a super shitty 33 ATK. For those of you with the intellect of a Gumi proofreader, that is really shitty for a physical attacker but 33 is still higher than 30 ATK. I'd do the math for you to explain it to you, but your feabile mind has no chance of understanding it. Basically, if you can imperil fire as high or higher than dark, Reaver wins. Otherwise this shitty-named sycthe does. Either way, you'll never use either as a physical weapon.

Looking at the 2 non-elemental spears, we have the Zodiac Spear from the Zargabaath (fucking up his name on purpose is a dead meme. May anyone still doing so have a large flock of birds shit all over them). At 130 ATK the damage formula makes this give 38% more damage. Factor in the additional 400 ATK and assuming 2600 ATK for the Fancyreaper's Scythe and you're looking at an 84% increase in damage before imperils. Aranea's TMR is slightly stronger at 140 ATK so the total comes out to 91%. You need a 100% dark imperil to come out ahead with Gassyreaper's Shit. And that assumes you don't want the jump boost from Aranea's TMR.

This is only better than Aranea's TMR when you can't imbue her with dark, dark is the best element, and you have a dark imperil of at least 100%. And the damage improvement is not that big. Thus it gets a very niche rating.

Haunted Blaster
[gun]: 50 ATK, dark element, 2H (1.35-1.65x dmg var, 70% acc)

u/GunBatTay got heads-heads so you get another normal review.

There's only one other 2H dark gun in the game and it is from the Tomb Raider collab. Fortunately for Gumi, I am not allowed to rant about the lack of 7 star Explorer Aileen due to the edict from RNG. Well, that event gun (Toxic Shotgun) has 95 ATK and easily wins in a direct comparison.

For those of you without that old gun, Lagao (4 star TMR, 130 ATK) is your next best non-STMR option. The math is identical to the Wolf Claws - Replica and Fatal Knuckles comparison. For those of you that don't want to scroll up, this new gun wins when you can get a dark imperil higher than 52%.

If you have that Tomb Raider gun, this is pretty worthless to you. If you don't it's a decent niche weapon. Since I can't assume everyone has the TR gun, this gets the niche rating instead of the trash rating.

Charcoal Relic
[accessory]: 5 ATK/MAG, 1 DEF/SPR, 5% light resist, 10% blind/disease resist, Charcoal Set => 5% DEF/SPR when equipped with charcoal hood.

u/ricprospero got tails-tails so we need another roll! u/andvarix got tails-heads so it's time for poop jokes!

Comparing this accessory to shit would be an insult to feces everywhere. Why even bother with the 1 DEF/SPR? That's not enough enough to stop a shart from staining your pants.

Trash rating.

Charcoal Hood
[hat]: 5 ATK/MAG, 1 DEF/SPR, 10% light resist, 15% blind/disease resist, Charcoal Set => 10% DEF/SPR with Charcoal Cloak

u/Vellesard got tails-tails so once again we get a double RNG roll! u/Nommynomnomss got heads-tails so it's time for... alliteration. Fuck, I was hoping that one wouldn't show up.

I can candidly claim Charcoal Hood cannot conveniently counter light enough to condone or consider keeping it. Surely, you should reshape this shitty item into the Ashen version.

Terrible trash tier rating.

Charcoal Cloak
[robe]: 8 ATK/MAH, 5 DEF/SR, 15% light resist, 25% blind/disease resist, Charcoal Set => 10% DEF/SPR with Charcoal Relic

u/sundin4mvp got heads-tails so we get some useless trivia.

Do you know that Kingsford (biggest manufacturer of charcoal briquets in the US) was originally owned by Ford? Ford used a lot of lumber in Model Ts so they bought their own lumber mill to keep costs down and maintain a steady supply. To make use of all the scrap wood and sawdust, they started making charcoal.

Also, this is one of 17 items in the game with cloak in the name (3 from just this week!). 7 are clothes, 2 are robes (both from this event), and 7 are accessories.

Once again, don't bother with this. Upgrade to the Ashen Cloak instead. Trash rating.

Ashen Relic
[accessory]: 8 ATK/MAG, 5 DEF/SPR, 5% MP, 15% light resist, 15% blind/disease resist, Ashen Set => 10% DEF/SPR with Ashen Hood

u/Hylian_Shield go heads-heads so another normal review.

The flat stats so low that they aren't even worth mentioning. 15% light resist is too low for consideration. Ashe's Ring (4 star TMR) gives 50 light resist so it'd save a couple slots compared to this accessory. The blind and disease resists are too low to matter (if they were at least 50% they would be somewhat usable).

Trash rating.

Ashen Hood
[hat]: 8 ATK/MAG, 5 DEF/SPR, 10% MP, 20% light resist, 35% blind/disease resist, Ashen Set => 15% DEF/SPR with Ashen Cloak

u/WAMIV got heads-tails so it's time for another angry rant! (yes I fucked this up. It should have been useless trivia instead)

Of all the stupid status ailments it could protect against they choose blind and disease? Name one halfway decent healer that can't cure those without sacrificing more than half a turn? If you can name one, I'm pretty sure you don't use that healer. If you do use that healer, I guess RNGsus likes to fuck you up the ass with gas powered hedge trimmer.

At least Gumi is pretty consistent with one thing with all this gear. Other than the light resist, the fucking 10% MP boost is the best thing this turd gives. If good light resist on hats weren't rare, I'd recommend that you run naked in a briar patch over bothering to get this.

Better hats for light resist:

  • Kryla's STMR: 35 DEF, 84 SPR, 20% all element resist
  • Cat-ear Hood (SQ purchase): 25 MAG/SPR, 20% fire/ice/lightning/light resist
  • Maria's Goggles (limited rainbow TMR): 30 DEF, 52 MAG, 40% light resist
  • Aegyo (rainbow TMR): 20 MAG, 55 SPR, 40% fire/light resist
  • Rust-Red Circlet (event): 10 DEF, 50% light resist

All of the better hats are limited or trapped behind a rainbow so this gets a niche rating

Ashen Cloak
[robe]: 18 ATK/MAG, 10 DEF/SPR, 10% MP, 20% light resist, 50% blind/disease resist, Ashen Set => 20% DEF/SPR with Ashen Relic

u/amhnnfantasy got tails-heads so it's time for an angry rant.... But I screwed up the previous one so you get useless trivia this time.

The full name of Ash, the protagonist from the Evil Dead series, is Ashley Joanna WIlliams.

20% light resist on a robe is pretty good. All the better options are trapped behind rainbows (30%: K Ayaka TMR, A Fry TMR, Marie TMR. 70%: K Fina STMR) or an event (30%: Pure White Robe). Other than A Fry's TMR, all of those also give similar or better DEF/SPR than Ashen Hood with Ashen Relic equipped.

Personally, I have no use for this. But all the better gear is either limited or trapped behind a rainbow so it gets the niche rating like all other decent elemental resist gear.

Full Ashen Set

  • 32 ATK/MAG
  • 20 DEF/SPR
  • 20% MP
  • 55% light resist
  • 100% blind/disease resist
  • 45% DEF/SPR

For comparison, a combo of Genbu Ring, Fryevia's Suit, and Cat-Ear Hood gives:

  • 30 10% ATK
  • 55 10% MAG
  • 33 20% SPR
  • 8 20% DEF
  • 20% HP
  • 50% light resist
  • 20% fire/ice/lightning resist

Unless you need the SPR of DEF for reasons other than eHP, this should be better than the full Ashen set in most scenarios. The only real advantage of Ashen Set over this combo is the MP which generally isn't a big deal. (I'm not counting those ailment resists as they aren't that important).

Unless you're severely lacking decent light gear, the full set isn't crucial to get. Definitely don't try farming a second set. You're probably far more likely to just use the hat or robe rather than the full set. It seems like the gear gets slightly worse with each elemental battle event we get. I really hope the trial set is much better.

The full set would be decent for newer players that didn't get any of the other gear from elemental battles so it gets the newbie gear rating.

(S)TMRs

Karten's STMR
Wildfang Heirloom
[fist]: 170 ATK, Wildfang Claws => 50% eqATK TDW

u/Siana-chan got tails-heads so it's angry rant time again.

So what is Gumi's solution to the JP crystal ball this week? Should we power creep the upcoming units with a GLEX one? Sure but it's a limited banner so that doesn't always work. Why do only that when we can release a new high ATK fist weapon that also gives eqATK TDW? Now all the people hoarding for Great Dragon Madam Edel will be tempted to pull on this limited double physical attacker rainbow banner! Plus, if this works then we can do the exact same shit later with a gun!

At 170 ATK, this ties FF's original giant-breasted pugilist's STMR, comes a mere 1 ATK behind Prishe's STMR, and only 3 behind the reward for clearing Scorn of Beasts of the Dark. While Tifa's also gives 3 LB per turn and Tiger Fangs has 75% Aquatic killer, those aren't nearly as universally useful as the TDW boost.

Potential BiS rating

Karten's TMR
Scarlet Moon
[clothes]: 35 ATK, 30 DEF, Eternal Bloodlust => 50% ATK with fists equipped

u/Ekusik rolled double tails so it's time for more double RNG. u/Grumblebees also rolled a double tails so every single thing after this paragraph and before the next item is a convoluted lie. Good luck interpreting it (read TL;DR if you're confused).

The flat ATK on this is definitely not in STMR territory. The worst unlimited option after this is KH Sephiroth's TMR. And it's a very good thing that isn't a limited unit so you can get it anytime you want. The next worst limited item is Hyoh's Clothes

I wouldn't drop a couple tickets hoping to pull any other rainbow if this was a downgrade from my worst option. Clearly you should wait for Yun to return and get his ridiculously OP TMR instead (52 DEF, 25% fire resist, 30% ATK with fist).

Absolutely not chance at BiS rating.

Diarrhea Godrea's STMR
GE-98 Photon Gun
[gun]: 177 ATK, 2H (1.3-1.7x dmg var) and a bunch of skills you probably won't use that boosts healing items and turns them AE.

u/suakufubuki got heads-tails so time for more useless trivia

Photons were first proposed by Albert Einstein as part of his work on the photoelectric effect. Due to politics, Einstein was awarded the Nobel Prize for this work rather than relativity. And it wasn't because relativity was unproven or scientists at the time felt his contribution to quantum physics was more important. It was just your run of the mill hate-fueled politics.

At 3 ATK lower than Dressy Aileen's STMR and 2 higher than Vincent's STMR, all three of these are essentially interchangeable (basically if you have more than one of these, just use whichever has the better IW roll). The only 2H gun that is potentially better by a non-trivial amount is NG Jake's STMR (160 ATK, 30% LB damage) if you are relying on LB for a good chunk of damage.

Godzilla Godrea's TMR
Photon Core
[accessory]: 40 ATK, Photon Core => 50% eqATK TDH, 50% damage from physical, hybrid, and magic attacks against fairies and reapers.

u/letsgetcomics got heads-heads so normal review.

Just another 40 ATK with 50% TDH accessory. Rather than the pittance of DEF/SPR from Khloud's TMR or the LB from Elfreeda's or Akstar's TMR you get some fairies/undead killer.

BiS when the killers matter, but it is the worst for this class of accessories when it doesn't. Still good enough for the very good rating though.

Demon Matsuri

Kyubi Plushie
[accessory]: 15 ATK/MAG/DEF, 20% fire resist, 20% confuse resist, Kyubi Set => 20% ATK/MAG with Kyubi Mask

u/Soulwaver89 got heads-heads. Normal review.

Purely as a fire resist accessory, this is a bit lacking. We have plenty of better options including a Portal Charm (3 star TMR, 15% MAG, 30% fire/light/dark resist), and a couple craftables from the FFV raid that just ended (Coral Ring: 25% fire/water, -50% lightning, Flame Ring: 25% fire/ice, -50% water).

The value here comes from the balance of fire resist with ATK and/or MAG. Looking at just ATK The fire resist accessories with 20% or better resist aren't any better for ATK. Bomb Engagement Ring (trial), Knight's Medal (STMR), and Ifrit's Claw (trial) give a flat 30 ATK and Infernal Armlet (limited rainbow TMR) gives 20% ATK. The other options are likely better for maximizing ATK when looking only at the accessory slot (Infernal Armlet outright loses if you have Kyubi Mask equipped).

On the MAG side, there's Knight's Medal (STMR) with 30 MAG, Portal Charm (3 star TMR) with 15% MAG, Sophia's Hairpin (limited STMR) with 60 MAG, and Eureka Key (limited) with 20 MAG. Portal Charm is only better if you have less than 200% eqMAG boosts. Eureka Key is worse if you have Kyubi Mask equipped.

When you want both ATK and MAG, only Knight's Medal (STMR) with 30 ATK/MAG can compete with this.

Overall, this is a solid option for balancing fire resists and ATK/MAG. Niche rating.

Kyubi Mask
[hat]: 25 ATK/MAG/DEF, 15% HP, 30% fire resist, 50% confuse resist, Kyubi Set => 20% ATK/MAG with Kyubi Cloak

u/TheRealOlbaid for heads-heads. Normal review

Only two hats have better fire resist:

Chic Summer Hat (4 star TMR) is easily the best hat option for fire resist (50%). It also will almost always provide better MAG thanks to the 40 MAG it provides. It also provides 40 SPR which is a decent tradeoff for the 15% HP when you need magic eHP. It's not quite as good but the higher fire resist lets you make up for it elsewhere.

Aegyo (rainbow TMR) has higher fire resist (40%) but only gives 20 MAG so "better" will depend on your preferences and other gear. This has a nice 55 SPR also which can offset the 15% HP for magic eHP builds.

There are no hats with ATK and 30% or higher fire resist so this is optimal for any builds that needs ATK and fire resists.

Due to being the best option for fire resists on ATK focused units, this gets the very good but niche rating.

Kyubi Cloak
[clothes]: 25 ATK, 30 MAG/DEF, 15% HP, 30% fire resist, 50% confuse resist, 40% ATK/MAG with Kyubi Plushie

u/QueadillaFrog got heads-heads (see, RNG fucks over all of us even in SIFT). Normal review.

Only 4 other sets of clothes have 30% or better fire resist:

Red Jacket (key reward) and Minerva Bustier (3 star TMR, females only) give the same 30% fire resist but no ATK or MAG. Thanks to the better element coverage (fire/ice/lightning/wind) on Minerva Bustier you might still choose that over Kyubi Cloak if you need more than just fire resists.

Luneth's Clothes (STMR) not only gives water, wind, and earth resists also, but it gives the highest flat ATK in the game (45) so that's the obvious winner when you want ATK.

Thermal Suit gives 50% fire resist but not much else. Whichever stat you care about more (fire resist, ATK/MAG, eHP) will determine which is better.

There are no fire resist clothes with MAG and Rainbow Robe (rainbow TMR) is the only better option for MAG (same fire resist).

Overall, this is optimal for ATK with fire resist unless you have Luneth's STMR, optimal for MAG with fire resist unless you have Marie's TMR, and easily the best option for ATK MAG with fire resist. This gets the very good but niche rating.

Full Kyubi Set

  • 65 ATK, 80% ATK
  • 70 MAG, 80% MAG
  • 70 DEF
  • 30% HP
  • 80% fire resist
  • 120% confuse resist

u/InternKain got tails-heads. Angry rant again (although this is more just verbally abusive than an angry rant).

What the flying fuck is with the 120% confuse resist total? It's not like 200% from gear will stop ailment-resist debuffs from enemies. Sure it's handy to be able to hit 100% confuse resist without the damn accessory, but I still don't like it. Round numbers only, damnit!

Am I supposed to come up with alternate options to show you all how good or bad this is? Well, it should be fucking obvious to you, so I'm not going to do it. The hat and clothes are extremely good for balancing ATK and/or MAG with fire resist and you get shit ton more ATK and MAG with the full set. If you can't see that for yourself, this game is way too complicated for your brain that's so tiny that the pimple between your legs that you call a dick looks like Mt Everest in comparison. Let me put it in words you can understand: It gud. Stop scary fire. Make you hit harder.

Very good but niche.

Samurai's Might
[materia]: 60% ATK with katana

u/theunderline got tails-tails. Fortunately u/Hylian-Shield did a bunch of extra tosses so the rest are him/her.. This one is tails-tails. Bunch of lies again (see TL;DR for less confusing summary).

You'll always never not use this some of the time usually. No decent attackers use katanas so it's not worth neglecting to forget to obtain. Conditional 60% ATK is bottom-of-the-barrel and you'll get an ocular gonorrhea infection if you equip it.

Flowing Might
[materia]: 80% ATK with water elemental weapon

Heads-heads. Normal review

Unlike the previous trial reward with 80% MAG with a light weapon, you'll actually have a chance to use this one.

We have quite a few good water weapons from a nice variety or weapon types (only noting 90 ATK items):

  • Cataract (quest reward, 2H bow, 101 ATK, 50% bird killer)
  • Aqua Blade (3 star TMR, sword, 90 ATK, grants dual wield)
  • Brotherhood (rainbow TMR, sword, 135 ATK)
  • Sturdy Umbrella (event, greatsword, 98 ATK)
  • Suiryuken (rainbow TMR, 2H katana, 140 ATK)
  • Water Dragon (event, 2H katana, 120 ATK)
  • Viking Axe (4 star TMR, axe, 125 ATK)
  • Splash Knuckle (3 star TMR, fist, 125 ATK)

With that nice mix of weapon types including both 1H and 2H options, you'll have a decent chance of making good use of this materia once in awhile.

While a lot of units (especially TDW units) can already hit the ATK stat cap without this, having the bigger boost is useful for freeing up materia slots for killers and survival gear.

As this is extremely good but limited to elemental weapons, this gets the very good but niche rating.

And yes, my least favorite named gear in the game, Staff of Blizzards, will activate the passive.

Old unit (S)TMRs

Due to the sheer amount of gear, I'm keeping this short. I'm not adding these to the TL;DR: section as these should be fast reads. Don't forget that the 3/4 star units will have free moogles.

Lilith's STMR
Malefic Heart
[materia]: 30% HP, 30% DEF/SPR with mace, 50% fire/dark resist.

Not quite as good as it was last year (we've gotten a lot of very good eHP materias in the past year) but it is still very good when you can use a mace. Obviously excellent when you need the resists.

Lilith's TMR
Midnight Star
[mace]: 15 ATK, 95 SPR, Demonization => 20% HP, 10% DEF/SPR

IW rare for maces is 40% HP so this is great for getting as much HP possible from a single slot. Just make sure your tanks (current and future) can make use of it before trying to chase a copy (WoD Galuf can't equip this and CG WoL's TMR is a weapon so you'd need his STMR to make use of this).

Lucius' STMR
Glorious Headpiece
[hat]: 52 ATK, Glorious Headpiece => 30% ATK with fist, 3 LB/turn

Only Karlette's STMR has higher flat ATK but this easily wins if you have a fist equipped. Only other hats that give LB per turn are K Ayaka's STMR (2/turn) and Illusionist Nichol's TMR (limited 4 star, 1/turn) making this the best option for LB/turn.

Fist passive makes this an interesting option for Karten and Madam Edel in the future. It can help free up a materia slot for survival/killers.

Lucius' TMR
Chaotic Ferocity
[materia]: 30% ATK with fist, 30% ATK with clothes

Tons of other options for conditional 60% ATK for fist users: Sabin's TMR (rainbow), Tifa's TMR (rainbow), Citan's TMR (limited rainbow), Adam Jensen's TMR (limited rainbow), and Great Dragon's TMR (limited 4 star)

Yun's STMR (limited) will give 80% with fist and dagger/whip/mace.

Demon Rain's STMR
Demon's Gambit
[materia]: 30% HP, 50% eqATK/eqDEF TDH

Only source of eqDEF TDH in the game. Not as awesome as it sounds because you probably want a shield on any unit that needs high DEF other than Demon Rain. Great niche use for TDH physical attackers when you need to boost their physical eHP.

Demon Rain's TMR
Infernal Armlet
[accessory]: 20% ATK/DEF, 20% earth/fire resist.

Good when you need the resists and ATK but nothing special.

Dracu Lasswell's STMR
Gothic Amulet
[accessory]: 50 ATK, 50% eqATK TDH, 15% evade, 10% magic evade

Extremely good. Only AI Katy's STMR gives more ATK from a 50% TDH accessory. (This has higher flat ATK but AIK has 40% ATK too)

Dracu Lasswell's TMR
Vampire Cloak
[clothes]: 20 DEF, 30 MAG/SPR, 10% evade

The only other evade clothes were from a premium bundle (Soccer Jersey). Great option for 100% evade builds but definitely not necessary.

Grim Lord Sakura's STMR
Grim Brilliance
[materia]: 20% HP/MP, 50% eqMAG/eqSPR TDH

The eqMAG TDH is weak for a STMR materia but the HP and eqSPR TDH is amazing for adding magic eHP to a TDH mage. A nice upgrade from Magical Potential (4 star TMR) or Unmatched Wizardry (limited 4 star TMR).

Grim Lord Sakura's TMR
Reaver
[spear]: 666 HP, 66 MP, 130 MAG, 36 SPR, 30% MAG, fire/dark element, 2H, 3 LB/turn (GLS only)

Not many units can equip spears and wants high MAG. Other than GLS, there's Karlette, BS Sakura, and AI Katy but they generally have much better options available to them.

White Witch Fina
Blessed Bow
[bow]: 80 ATK, 40 SPR, 2H, bird/undead killer

Crap.

Pirate Jake
Jake's Pirate Ring
[accessory]: 20 DEF/SPR, 25% HP, 1 LB/turn, 20% LB fill rate

Very good for general tankiness but Genbu Ring (crafted ring) is better. If you want the LB and tankiness the only other good option is Sylvie's TMR ( 10% HP/MP, 35 DEF/SPR, 15% lightning/earth/light resist, 5% fire/ice/water/wind/dark resist, 2 LB/turn). Sylvie's is better for LB but in general will provide slight less eHP. Mine haven't seen much use since Gebu Ring became available but I also don't do many LB focused builds either.

Illusionist Nichol
Magical Top Hat
[hat]: 25 MAG, 45 MP, recover 5% MP per turn, 1 LB/turn

The only other hats with LB/turn are Lucius' STMR (3/turn) and K Ayaka's TMR (2/turn). Worth getting if you have neither of those and want LB/turn from the head slot.

Black Cat Lid
Cat hat
[hat]: 25 MP, 15 DEF, 20 MAG/SPR , 100% silence resist

TL;DR:

I'm not including all the old unit (S)TMRs in this section. Look at the previous section if you want those details. I kept the comments pretty short.

Potential BiS:

  • Karten's STMR (fist, 170 ATK, 50% TDW)
  • Karten's TMR (clothes, 35 ATK, 50% ATK with fists, flat ATK is in STMR range. Potentially better than the STMRs depending on weapon masteries)
  • Godrea's STMR (gun, 177 ATK, 2H, on par with other 2H gun STMRs)

Very Good:

  • Godrea's TMR (accessory, 40 ATK, 50% TDH, spirit/undead killers, potential BiS with killers, worst of similar options without the killers)

Very good but niche:

  • Flowing Might (materia, 80% ATK with water weapon)
  • Samurai's Might (materia, 60% ATK with katana)
  • Kyubi Mask (hat, 25 ATK/MAG/DEF, 15% HP, 30% fire resist, best hat for ATK with fire resist)
  • Kyubi Cloak (clothes, 25 ATK, 30 MAG/DEF, 15% HP, 30% fire resist, very good compromise between fire resist and ATK and/or MAG).
  • Full Kyubi Set (accessory/hat/clothes, extremely good for balancing offensive stats with fire resist)

Niche:

  • Wolf Claws - Replica (50 ATK, 2H, dark, 2H and element combo can outweigh the low ATK in some situations)
  • Haunted Blaster (50 ATK, 2H, dark, worthless if you have dark 2H gun from Tomb Raider event, good option for dark weapon otherwise)
  • Ashen Hood (hat, 20% light resist)
  • Ashen Cloak (robe, 20% light resist)

Very Niche:

-Dreadreaper's Scythe (30/ATK/MAG, 2H, dark element, barely stronger than Aranea's TMR when everything is in favor of this)

Newbie Gear:

  • Full Ashen Set (accessory/hat/robe, vets are more likely to use one or two pieces than the full set)

Trash:

  • All charcoal set gear
  • Ashen relic (not in full set)

SIFT Index

Anyone else playing Last Cloudia? I'm only started playing because they eventually get a Secret of Mana collab (I love that game about 15% as much as u/WAMIV does which probably makes me the #2 fan), but have been enjoying it the past week. I could use some decently leveled friends: 126 164 702
