Season 2 finale summary
Post Body

Vlad has turned into a giant killy thing

All: That dude is big.

Jake: But not as big as my...

Rain: No time! Let's escape. Quick! Let's find the transfer array instead of using teleportation magic that the Sworn Six and Sakura kept using in season 1 and parts of season 2!

Meanwhile on the ground

Cameo person 1: Ahhhhh!

Cameo person 2: Ahhhhh, also!

Random person: The world is ending. That's like the third time this week!

Cut to some creepy shit on screen

Vlad: Nihilist speech 5.0!

Rain: He plans to wipe out all of humanity.

Lid: Duh, we've know that for like 3 story updates. Stop mansplaining things. Also, look at the airships over there.

Aldore airships have randomly joined forces with Hess for reasons that make no sense whatsoever. It's not like they know the emperor was a puppet and the giant killy thing is the real leader of Aldore who wants to eliminate all life.

BOOM! No more Aldore or Hess airships!

Rain: There's a crystal on his head. That must be the key to defeating him because it's always a goddamn crystal causing all the problems. Let's put together a plan where we all have a high risk of death based on a lot of convenient assumptions about his soul and that crystal.

Milo: I'm also here. I used the Invincible to find you. Let's not discuss why I was using your airship without permission when I have access to the Yuraisha. I came here because I figured plot armor would deliver all of you to this very specific random bluff overlooking the battle. Also, let's not discuss why the most powerful airship in existence wasn't attacking the giant killy thing.

Rain: Time to enact our poorly conceived plan that our strategist didn't bother to help with!

They draw near Vlad

Milo: We can't get to his head due to some light. We'll just get to his midsection instead. While we fly this suicide mission, allow me to repent for my stubborn ways. I mean, technically I was right and there was no hope for peace with Aldore with Vlad in charge but still, I sorely need some character development right now.

Someone: Blah blah, our only chance, blah blah, no turning back, blah blah, do it together!

Milo: Jump now with the winds at our backs! (The on screen animation clearly shows the wind is blowing the other way...)

Somewhere on Vlad's torso

Nichol: Time for the final battle! For real this time!

Plot twist time! Veritas of the Frost appears!

The Sworn 6/7/8?: Let's talk about him but conveniently not use his name and just refer to his title.

Plot twist x2! All the Veritas Armors!

Sakura: These are not the true Sworn Eight. The part where it's not us was a dead giveaway!

All: Blah blah, copies like Exostars blah blah

Sieg: Smash Mouth lyrics!

Folka: I just remembered I was pretty evil when I wore the armor. Defeating this armor will atone for my sins. I'm sure my great98 grandson Elle would agree.

It's surprisingly a difficult battle. The Lapis heroes are already stronger than the Veritas in their armor and the Sworn 7(?) are stronger now than when they wore their armor. Also they have the fake Veritas greatly outnumbered 14 to 8. 20 to 8 if you count the 6 visions in my party.

Veritas resurrect

All: Oh no! We'll have to fight these pushovers powerful enemies again! Let's despair and resign ourselves to wasting all of our energy before the real fight! It's not like we can't just beat them one more time then toss them off this giant killy thing to buy us a lot of time.

Sieg: I got some deus ex machina medicine here.

Citra: I conveniently know that it might make us mortal again and possibly instantly kill us.

Sieg: Whatevs. I'm beautiful. Also, none for Raegen! He needs to survive to take care of Lasswell and Rain. Those two will be running the world. Let's just ignore the fact that the royalty system is not only a lousy form of government in general but also directly lead to Vlad's demented world view.

Another easy fight that surprisingly really drains the characters

Sieg/Cid/Ig/Citra/Folka: We're done now. See you in the epilogue!

Raegen: We stuck around to watch you fight so I could say something sentimental when you finished. Something sentimental!

Nichol: There's a crevice. Let's go inside Vlad. That's my brilliant strategy based on the fact that there is a crevice there and we are not currently in it.

Fina and Physalis: Friendship stuff!

stuff falls down and the team gets a triple rainbow pull

Rain: let's stop to reminisce about how crystals made us meet. I bet this comes in handy later.

Vlad: Let me confirm that destroying this crystal in my massive head is the only way to kill me. Also, the power of being alone is more powerful that whatever BS emotion power you're using.

Rain Lasswell: Your loneliness power is just as BS is ours! Friendship double attack!

crystal breaks

All: we won!

Giant kill thingy moves

All: WTF! How many last battles do we need to fight!

Fina: We were absorbed by Vlad. Don't ask how I can tell just by looking in this empty white space.

Vlad: This is a world where only I exist (I'm ignoring that you're here now which invalidates my claim). This was my goal. Low budget backgrounds! I've failed but at least I can kill you! Now face an even uglier version of me!

All: Wow his emotions are powerful. I thought we had a monopoly on the power of emotion. Blah blah happiness blah blah friendship blah blah do it together! Time for the final battle! For real this time!

Raegen: Royalty did this to you? I'll make amends by killing you as a member of the royalty. That's a fair and logical solution.

All: Yay! We won that fight. Wait. Nope. He cloned himself. Time for the final battle! For real this time!

Rain: We can't give up but I'm too weak to even stand. If only I had a chair... Oh, the crystals we conveniently picked up earlier is about to rip off the end battle in FFIV.

Rain: Holy shit! One crystal summoned two rainbows: Sol & Crimson, Kyanos who has a great TMR, and... a useless 3 star with shitty TMR. Three out of four ain't bad.

Lasswell: Atole, Pris, Sandy, Cindy, Mindy, Krowa, and Regina who thinks she's Citra? As long as it's really Regina and not Citra I should be able to OTKO this fight.

Raegen: Monbert, Redge, Maemae, Darish, Honor, Yuraisha, Rowen, and Sophia. Great! I got a ton of strong attackers, a buffer, and Sophia who is a great cover tank!

All: Friendship power attack! We win! Bye-bye visions, thanks for your help!

Physalis: Lasswell, you didn't summon Akstar.

Lasswell: I decided not to rely on the troll rainbow from his own banner master.

Raegen literally clings on to the memory of his dead wife to drag out the scene

Jake: We're done for real this time.

Rain: Nope. There's a crystal over there. Time for the final battle! For real this time!

Fina, Rain, and Lasswell have a pre-battle moment together to help set up season 3

Fina/Rain/Lasswell: We'll go on a journey on X date at that one place where we met.

Crystal is destroyed and the world goes from low-budget white background back to the creepy face ground

Physalis: Lasswell, I love you!

Lasswell: I'm a fucking idiot and can't understand those extremely direct and clear words.

Jake: Lid, gimme some sugar!

Lid: Stop! Hammer time!

Scene returns to random nobodies who are happy that the battle is over despite having no business knowing what happened. It's not like the ginormous body of Vlad went away or anything

Cameo person 1: Yay!

Cameo person 2: Yay, also!

The real Akstar emerges from a crystal in some forest and says ironic things the audience can laugh at. He plans to meet Lasswell but completely forgot about the part where he's dying. I hope he lives long enough...

Sakura: The Invincible! Always showing up only when things are safe!

Ignacio/Folka/Citra/Cid/Ignacio: We're here for the epilogue as promised!

Rain and Lasswell: Time to be kings!

Epilogue

Lasswell's throne room

Milo: I thought you went on a journey!

Lasswell: Just some grave digging. No journeys until season 3 starts.

Milo: blah blah blah positive changes planned blah blah blah hard work

Raegen: I'm helping you instead of Rain because I kind owe Yuraisha after waging war against her 700 years ago. Still not quite sure why I sided with the murderer of my family over my adoptive mother...

Citra: Apparently, I'm back to stalking Raegen.

Raegen: Now that I promised to stay and help, I'm going to travel to see friends. Smell ya later.

Lasswell: Take Citra with you. I need a new mama.

In Sacher

Siegard, Shamlin, and Nagi are doing street performance. Their life is now getting paid to make people smile. They'll be touring the world and gathering new people for their troupe. Sieg won't let them watch for free because they need the money to survive. Clearly they are in need of money and Reagen doesn't even bother to buy them lunch.

Somewhere that isn't Olderion

The duo search for Folka but don't find her. Flash to Olderion and we see Folka feeling bad about the entire genocide thing. A couple kids call her pretty so she no longer feels bad about all the killing. Good thing she didn't kill those kids the last time she was in town! She also monologues a bit to inform us she is no longer immortal.

Cid's Home

700 year old Mid and presumably an adult Yego are acting like teenage girls and are fighting over clothes. Cid smooths over the fight by offering to make them both new skirts. The Tear of Providence flower is now conveniently dead and the last drop goes to Mid to make her mortal again. Elmaul apparently removed the bomb from Yego. I had no idea a historian could also do complicated surgery involving explosives. Cid acts like an overprotective dad to punk Raegen. Everyone is somehow convinced that Raegen is a good dad.

Raegen reflects on his visit with Cid and thinks living with his family is the best way to live life. Let's totally ignore that's the exact opposite of what he's done his entire damn life. Citra hopes to one day have a family but figures she has a lot to do first. Stuff like visit Ignacio!

Ignacio's home

Ignacio is now a sculptor because he thinks there's no demand for weapons anymore. Dimwit is forgetting about normal people protecting themselves from monsters. It's a freaking FF game, there's monsters everywhere! I mean, we're still fighting them now in this epilogue! Also, blacksmiths can make things that aren't weapons...

Ignacio is making Kagane statues hoping that a perfect statue will give her soul a place to live. R&C thinks it's great he's doing that because they are all idiots. Just let her soul move on you asswipes! It's been 700 years since she died and her soul hasn't moved on yet.

Back on the deck of the Yuraisha, it turns out R&C believe Kagane's soul already moved on but they let their friend dedicate the rest of his life to trying to capture her soul in a rock. These are not good friends.

Rain's throne room

Nichol and Sakura are discussing issues with Rain. Nichol is trying to downsize the army but there is push back from military dudes. Probably because thousands of soldiers would suddenly become jobless and Aldore has no safety net for them? Meanwhile Sakura is worried about the slaves no longer working so there's not enough productivity to sustain the country. Instead of the two smartest people in the cast coming to the obvious solution of maintaining the army but shifting their duties to boost productivity while the soldiers adjust to civilian life, they just talk to R&C.

Reagen apologizes (for what I have no idea, he wasn't specific and he's fucked up Rain's life A LOT) but Rain is cool with it because he has Nichol and Sakura to help him. It's not like they both have responsibilities in Lapis they should be attending to...

Raegen notices Fina is missing and Rain points out that she is in Grandshelt. Raegen makes an inappropriate sex joke and Rain doesn't understand because he's a shonen hero idiot.

Also, apparently Nichol has been recording the details of their journey this entire time and plans to publish it. History is written by the victors... He's hoping that this will stop history from repeating itself. I'll once again point out that the unfairness of the royalty system was a major motivator for Vlad...

Rain ends the scene by saying he sees things through as a Knight of Grandshelt. Perhaps he should see through his assigned duties as a Knight? He just up and left really early in season 1. They even mentioned at one point they were going against orders. This is clearly dereliction of duty!

Deck of the Invincible

Lid and Jake discuss how they are no longer just comedy relief characters (Lid didn't hit him with her hammer and he's not flirting with everything the moves). Citra interrupts their moment which leads to Jake getting the hammer again. Lid and Jake decide to keep things as they are. As characters devoid of value other than comedy relief Lid needs to quickly prevent them from crashing into a mountain. Jake has a ring for when she's ready. I'm assuming that means she cannot get married as a minor in either Lapis or Paladia.

Yup, zero character growth for the two of them the entire damn season.

Lapis

R&C switched to the Enterprise which is the ship that Evan (Lid's brother made). Why they switched airships, I have no idea. R&C are meeting with Fina, Physalis, and Moog. They relay to Fina that everyone else is doing okay but are very busy. Now Fina is sad because they promised to go on an adventure together.

For some reason Physalis is living in Grandshelt now instead of Hess with Lasswell. So much for her love of Lassie? Raegen is convincing Physalis to become a Knight of Grandshelt - that's an inter-dimensional cock-block. He just had to get in some more assholery, didn't he?

Fina needs convincing but eventually goes off to meet Rain and Lasswell per their promise. Raegen is uncertain that his sons will fulfill their promise. Maybe he should test their worthiness by dressing up as his dead friend and trying to kill them? That's a perfectly normal dad thing to do when he doubts the sincerity his children, right?

The meeting place

Fina is dressed in her S1 outfit and finds no one there. Apparently she has as much faith in Rain and Lasswell as their idiot dad. Rain and Lasswell show up dressed up in S1 outfits. Fina cries and Rain realizes she didn't think they would show up. Fina blatantly lies and says she knew they would show up. Blah blah blah kings have precious things blah blah blah where to go blah blah blah anywhere will do blah blah blah to the chocobos!

Short CG scene with the 3 on chocobos and cut to the credits. Also, apparently they want to be like the Marvel CU so they adding a minor preview in the form of a CG blue mage Fina at the very end.
