Improving Circe
Post Body

Hi guys it's me, Circe's creator. This anniversary certainly brought a lot of topics to talk about, but in my case I couldn't help but focus on the fact that my girl Circe's getting her enhancements finally! Now I'm going to preface this by saying I use Circe on a constant basis even now, and as such I've gotten pretty used to her pros and cons. I'm not a number guy, so it's particularly difficult for me to theorycraft an enhancement set that deals with putting her modifiers up to par, but I'm going to try my best at suggesting some changes that I feel would make her more competitive on the current meta, and I do so humbly asking the more savvy individuals in this community to give some feedback. I plan to send the results of this brainstorming to Gumi and maybe we'll still be on time to have them take some suggestions for the better :)

Circe works by using a combination of four elemental attacks in tandem with an imperil/spr breaking LB and CD skill. Since the elemental attacks also increase her LB gauge, it's imperative for her to keep them on the rotation, but two of these moves are single hit, low modifier skills that are basically wasting space on her kit. that's why I think her enhancements should turn these moves into chains that can help Circe broaden her possible partner options:

Freezing Omen/Flash Freeze

Circe's Sandstorm and Downpour already have the quirk of belonging to less used magic chaining families (which let's be honest, nowadays is any family other than CW), so I think Flash Freeze actually screams for a chance to going the Freeze family. C'mon, it's in the friggin name.

Blazing Omen/Heat Wave

Now when I think of fire chains, two families come to mind. It's either Kingsglaive or well, Chaos Wave. Thing is, I don't think there's any other Kingsglaive family magic skill, so I dunno, I guess it'd be cool if she was able to join the CW cool kids with at least one of her moves. Also, her other chaining families would be so niche I don't think it'd hurt giving her one major one, whichever it was.

Oracle's Path

Yeah, it's one of those passives that suddenly enhance her CD. When Circe first came out, she had tremendous burst damage that was just really slow to build, since it would only be available after using her 5th turn CD skill, Ouroboros. Tematically, I think this fits her since lorewise she's a walking omen of disasters. It kinda gives the idea she's just slowly waiting until the big hit kills everyone, cause she knows it's coming. Also, CG Bartz has already proven in JP people will gladly deal with whole turns of a unit sitting on her ass as long as the results are worth it. That's why I think it would probably still be fine for her to reach her super burst slowly; problem is, that burst is no longer impressive because she only gets a quadcast for one turn in a meta were mages have permanent t-casts and sustainable quads. So I propose this passive boosts Ouroboros so that it unlocks quadcast for 3 turns at least, preferably 4, so that they match with the added break and imperil duration. This skill has a 5 turn cooldown, so being able to quad on the four subsequent turns wouldn't be out of line considering afterwards you lose two turns of high damage (one from losing the quadcast and one from having to recast ouroboros.

Condemn

Now this... ok listen, this probably will sound like a pain in the ass idea. But I'm just throwing stuff around right? I mean, Condemn has no use whatsoever because it just casts one of the 4 unlockable elemental attacks randomly. It makes no sense using this with a chaining move cause all would have different families and the chance of two Circes matching would not be worth it... but what if, say, casting Condemn permanently unlocked the higher mod skill it randomly picks? Would that make it a reasonable skill to use while waiting for her CD to activate or would it be a stupid idea? I think it might be the latter honestly but, maybe there's a way to make condemn a desirable skill to use through enhancements?

Anyway, I hope I was able to stir up some interest in my girl and thanks in advance for your time. As a reminder, I don't presume to say these are actually good ideas, just stuff I tried to come up with to make lil Circe shine. I'll gladly take all the ideas and criticism that can make a kit worth using so that I can send it to Gumi and cross my fingers they make her able to sit among the other meta mages...

EDIT: So there you go, basically what Circe would need is 1) better modifiers, 2) turning her wasted elemental single hit moves into chains from more useful chaining families like CW and AZ, 3) higher uptime for her quadcast and 4) some passive stat buffs. This is good since that seems to me like the most logical and easy path Gumi might take, although I'm not opposed to some original changes to Condemn like I mentioned, since I've always felt it is her most oracle-ish skill. Thanks everyone for the input, let's hope all contest units receive some kickass upgrades.
