So, I'll preface saying this: If you dont care about meta, or killing trials day 1, this post is for you. If you care, it can still be for you. Don't leave yet.
Sylvie comes, today, with a strong kit for support. Overloaded with a lot of stuff, she brings something that springs life into the game and is, IMO, a really cool and healthy feature. Her skill to give chaining to other units.
Obviously, this is far from being the best tactic for trials. Still, those are, at best, "5%" of the game's content. There's lots of farming to do etc.
Lets say you luck into Sylvie. Your favourite character from FFBE from all time is... Squall. Squall can be hard to fit in farming teams since he cant chain (being a downside to stuff like raid farming, story events, etc). Guess what, he's now a totally viable chainer!
The skill Sylvie grants has close to 5x modifier (4,93333x) and has two upsides: It can be double-cast and she can grant it to two units in one turn.
This means an effective 10x modifier, which isnt bad at all. Squall can easily hit 2.5k ATK with his TMR TDH gear. Using Sylvie's skill to chain with a dupe (obviously, this isnt reallistic. Still, just for funsies), you'll do an effective damage of 1.7b vs a 1 DEF enemy. You'll not be able to chain on the first turn (since Sylvie is needing to do other stuff) but you can still use his fire imperil, for example.
Small Calculations
With this damage, how does Squall fare then?
This means he's on par with KH Cloud, using a Killer Bow build. This doesnt mean he's the best unit out there obviously. But he still dishes out good, really good damage.
Using another unit as example, I'll pick out Cloud! Cloud's downside is the same as Squall, not chaining at all.
How would he fare then?
Fully enhanced, Cloud hits 2680 ATK (BiS without STMRs). He's above Squall's ATK, and with this he can get to consistent 2b damage. That is, in fact, stronger than KH Cloud, and on par with dual wield 2B.
Fun Example.
I'm using Sylvie on my IW party. I ditched Hyoh and Fryevia (long time partners) for her, and am now using a very nostalgic party: Tidus and Yuna. And they're chaining together!!
I'm using this:

It is more than enough overkill from IW, and I can at least see in my party Tidus Yuna Auron... Which is something really, really cool, considering I'm a big FFX fan. Sylvie brought a bit of joy to my party, that I'm sure.
What about meta?
Sylvie enables your underused unit to be amazing at trials. You could, for example, bring the following party:
Physical tank. Healer. Sylvie. Loren. Squall. Friend Esther.
What happens then? Squall sets up an imperil (which is good to give Esther more flexibility), Esther chains with both Squall (frames granted by Sylvie) and Loren (AR LB single-cast), and on LB turns (when Esther and Loren chain), Squall can either refresh his imperil or even add a bit of damage with his finishing skills!
Anyway, I just posted this cuz it felt really underlooked when everyone is just drooling at Sylvie's supportive skillset and Esther's damage. It is nice to see a new breath sparked on old units, even with it meaning that its not broken at all.
TL:DR
Sylvie can make anyone make at least deal "usable" damage, since her dual-castable Bolting Strike frames skills have close to 5x mod. This is not in any ways broken, but enough to enable some fun options for nostalgia units.
