[Math]: Compensation Gain/Loss for Missing Daily MK Event
Author Summary

Post Body

Intro

I was bored so have some math regarding whether the compensation is worth the loss for those affected.

The math below is to calculate what a player would have gained/lost if they instead used the 5 NRG in the LGD variant with the compensation calculated into it. Essentially, the post answers whether the compensation offset the opportunity cost of not being able to do the daily MK event/were players properly compensated.

Formula

Once-a-Day Event (5 NRG)
  1000 * (1   [Bonus Units]) * [Day Affected]

"5 NRG" LGD Event
  (680   [Bonus Stages]) * (1   [Bonus Units]) * (5 NRG / 40 NRG) * [Days Affected]

Compensation
  6000

For Compensation to be of at least Equal value...
  [Compensation] [Lgd Run] >= [Once-a-Day Event]
  6000   (680   [Bonus Stages]) * (1   [Bonus Units]) * (5 NRG / 40 NRG) * [Days Affected] >= 1000 * (1   [Bonus Units]) * [Day Affected]
  6000 >= 1000 * (1   [Bonus Units]) * [Day Affected] - (680   [Bonus Stages]) * (1   [Bonus Units]) * (0.125) * [Days Affected]
  6000 >= [Days Affected] * (1   [Bonus Units]) * (1000 - 0.125*(680   [Bonus Stages]))
  6000 >= [Days Affected] * (1   [Bonus Units]) * (915 - 0.125*[Bonus Stages])

Just plug the in numbers for the very last line formula. If the left side of the equation is actually greater, you win.

Things I did not calculate:

  • Other stages (or effects on really new players)
  • Exp, Gils, ...
  • Maps Drops
  • Time lost ranting

Chart Form

Top level indicates bonus unit count (aka: pull luck and/or whale/hoard status). Left level indicates the bonus mobs appearing in the LGD stage (aka: unadultered luck). Over 100% indicates that the compensation worked to that specific players advantage. Probably only the "One-Day" chart will be used, but I added the others just in case.

Conclusion

Edit: Actually adding conclusion now. Basically, for an one-day issue, you only lose out if you are running really high bonus and are very unlucky when it comes to hitting the bonus stages.

This is the end of the post. :-p
