With only 12 old 5* base units, odds are very good that CG Lid will be getting her 7* awakening and her enhancements. I personally have been agonizing about whether to spend my Fan Festa UoC to 7* Kryla or whether I should wait for CG Lid and get a time limited TMR. Since I'm going to do a point by point comparison, I figured I may as well share my numbers with you! Ability awakenings are presumed to be the same as shown in the news for Kryla, and CD Lids abilities and enhancements are presumed to be unchanged from JP (enhanced abilities are in parenthesis).
TL;DR: If you have more of one than the other, go for the one you have more of. If you have none or 1 of each, I'd go for Kryla.

So, as far as pure breaks go, Lid wins hands down. Lid can hit a reliable 79% break rotation, with an occasional 84% break if you want to try your luck with Downer Bomb Creator, whereas Kryla can maintain a 74% break rotation. What's the difference between 79% and 74%?
For breaking enemy defense/spirit, a 74% break means you'll deal 384.6% of normal damage, while 79% break means 476.2% damage, 23.8% more damage. Regarding breaks to enemy attack/magic, a 74% break means you'll receive 6.75% the original damage you'd receive, while a 79% break means you'll receive 4.41%, only 65.3% as much. However, with many bosses now getting "equipment boosts" to their stats, these numbers, and thus the difference in the breaks, will be less.
Lid's idea rotation is pretty simple: LB every other turn. If you can't max her LB on turn 1 for those 79% breaks, you can still use her cooldown for that 74% full break. On other turns, she can Super Invention for MP restore, try your luck with Downer Bomb Creator (Random Break (23% each 2 turn AoE 84% Atk/Mag/Def/Spr single stat break, 8% AoE 55% full break) every other free turn, maybe throw Rikku's Pouch on her for eccentric.
Kryla's rotation is a little more complex. Her max breaking rotation looks something like this: turn 1 70% CD break, turn 2 is free or go straight into her 6 turn rotation: Dark Anathema, Anti-Offense Defense Pots, Free turn, Free Turn, Anti-Offense Defense Pots, Free Turn. With her free turns, she can give herself LB via Dark Covenant, attempt to Stop the enemies and hit them with a 14.9x spr scaling finisher with her LB (beware of messing up her rotation!), or inflict imperils and/or fixed damage. In a tight spot, she can even do something like Nullifying Chant Jinx - Anti-offense Pot if you absolutely need to clear off enemy buffs or friendly debuffs. Her fixed damage's mileage will vary. Against Nunki and Dabih, you can reliably hit them for 1.8M with her Eye of Doom, or 0.6M with Cursed eye, out of their 9/10M HP. Against something like 3* Leviathan, well, .6M a turn is going to suck trying to take down 100M HP. Another weakness of her is that her rotation relies on unlock abilities, so if she dies, you're going to have to adjust your rotation, and all her AoE breaks are either CDs or locked behind CDs so she'll have a harder time recovering against multiple targets.
Both characters have high demands for Limit Crystals to make their rotations work. Lid needs 32 crystals every 2 turns, and with her TMR and enhanced Bore Up, she needs to receive 8 LC per turn on average, or you can reduce this to 3 LC/turn with maxed 12 auto limit/turn. Kryla needs 26 crystals every 3 turns, and with her TMR only gets 1 LC/turn and no passive LC rate increase, so she needs an additional 8 LC per turn on average, or have an additional 8 auto limit. She can soften these requirements further, as several of her abilities give additional LC, most notably Dark Covenant which gives 13 at the cost of a self full break (which she is immune to the first 3 turns!), Her CD full break gives 13, and her imperil pots give 2-3 each cast and can be double cast.
Either character can use an alternate rotation, using W-Absorb/Witchcraft and their on-demand LBs and a cost of lower breaks and is single target, though this leaves them with 3 of every 5 turns free. This is also a great on demand back-up strategy if you are forced to break your rotation until your cooldowns/LB gauge are ready to go back into the normal rotation. Kryla's on demand breaks are 5% stronger than Lid's until she gets her enhancements, at which point Lid's are 5% stronger.
In conclusion, both are amazing breakers, with some secondary utility. Lid's breaks hit a little harder, probably her most useful role between breaks is to use her Super Invention for MP refresh (30 for now, 60 after enhancements), and possibly the occasional damage mitigation or full heals to free up you healers/supports as needed, and her 9 turn cooldown to dispel buffs and leave debuffs is ridiculous, but infrequent. Kryla is almost as good a breaker, can bring some damage as well as survivability if you stack her for Spr, brings small imperils for every element (though light and dark don't have a 100% up-time) in case you need external imperils, but her AoE dispel to both parties remains on of her greatest assets, especially now that it can be dual cast with Witchcraft . If you currently have one available, you shouldn't miss the other too much. If you have to choose where to spend your resources to get one or the other, Lid is the better breaker, and I personally think her secondary support is a little better than Kryla, but Kryla is here now and is limited, and has a step-up banner with only 3 5* units and no off banner rainbows (and shares it with White Knight Noel!), whereas CG Lid is in the permanent pool, and will probably be in a pool with 5-6 units when her 7* batch comes around.
Conclusion: They are close. If you have more of one than the other, go for the one you have more of. If you have none or 1 of each, I'd go for Kryla purely for her limited nature and easier availability.
Extra: VS Loren
I have no Loren and she has no upcoming banners I'm aware of, so she wasn't even on my radar, but a couple people have commented on her. Her LB is a 3 turn AoE 74% Full Break, which is as strong as Kryla's Anti-x pots. Outside of that, she has a 3 turn AoE 70% full break (6 turn cooldown, available turn 1), AoE 5 turn 50% Def/Spr or Atk/Mag breaks and ST 5 turn 50% full break on demand (which are pretty low in this meta), but her biggest upside is her ability to chain with the Onion Slice and Aureole Ray families. If you have 7* Loren, you probably don't need Lid or Kryla. As a breaker, I am of the opinion she is worse than Lid or Kryla, having weaker breaks than Lid, and worse on demand breaks than Kryla. Being able to use 2 turns of her 3 turn rotation chaining, not to mention 79% imperil on her relevant elements on her LB makes her very slot efficient.
