Ellesperis

The new arena physical damage champion

Ellesperis is a fucking beast on offense. Here are her key arena characteristics:

  1. Triple cast always when not banned
  2. Ridiculously easy to hit 100% accuracy
  3. High base stats
  4. Innate man-eater and demon killer (demon killer is important to counter Lilith)

Her primary chaining skill, Blood Sacrifice is nearly identical to (former) arena champion Rico Rodriguez's Chaos Object Homing:

  • 8-hit AoE
  • 58% backload on the final hit

(Edit: This skill is unfortunately only available at 7*.)

But u/okey_dokey_bokey, I hear backloading isn't important! Well, in arena it is. That final hit on a single chain with a dupe will hit for 2,300 damage alone. This is not factoring in the other 7 hits or even factoring the 2nd unit. It's the same reason why Rico is an arena standout (and that he also has Ignore DEF on his chaining skill).

The key difference is that units like Rico or Elfreeda can only use their chaining move once per turn while having 100% accuracy. Ellesperis can cast this motherfucker three times, every round.

But there is a BIG caveat: This skill shaves off 30% of her HP per cast which will end up being 90% with triple cast. The downside is that you'll need a bit of healer support. The upside is that your Ayaka will have something to do. So is it worth it?

Let's look at vanilla, non-element chaining with Ellesperis compared to new Arena Ice Queen Elfreeda's element chains:

  • Elfreeda: Single cast Empyrean Frost Arrow with single element chaining
  • Ellesperis: Triplecast Blood Sacrifice with normal (no spark) chaining
  • [Added] Hyoh: Dualcast Ruthless Blade (AoE portion only) with normal chaining
Copies Elfreeda Total Damage (Hits) Ellesperis Total Damage (Hits) Hyoh Total Damage (Hits)
2 7,027 (40) 18,335 (42) 8,556 (12)
3 10,947 (60) 32,487 (72) 16,173 (18)
4 14,867 (80) 44,859 (96) 24,141 (24)
5 19,627 (100) 56,763 (120) I'm lazy (lazy)

That type of physical damage is unprecedented in arena. Two 7* Ellesperis can feasibly carry all of the damage on your team. But beware of multi-cast bans! Though it's easy enough to swap her to DW with Stop support on those weeks and still pump out huge numbers.

So, is she good?

She outputs heaps of damage but with the major caveats of a) needing a healing babysitter and b) being greatly affected by physical multicast bans. But if you need someone to dunk on Liliths in arena, she's your gal. Keep in mind a physical cover will leave a unit standing every once in a while so don't get caught at 10% HP only to get killed by a Blizzara.

Should I pull?

Nope, never pull for arena units unless you're Korean. But if you end up with a bunch of Ellesperises, you can setup some very easy Repeat teams that will mow everyone down, including all those fucking Liliths.
