Post Body

Man, Odin doesn't joke around with this fight, but piecing together this team was a lot of fun.

Here's the full fight with it being mostly buildup and close-calls until the 10:43 mark

And here's the full loadout of this dream team.

The budget team doesn't use any 5* units or any TMRs that would come from a 5* unit. However, "budget" does not mean "beginner-friendly" in this case. This required time-limited units and gear, trial gear, ability awakening, and weapon enhancement. And since it will definitely come up, yes. That Jensen is anything but budget, but that's why I restricted this to a 5-man. He's the "friend" unit, and realistically, anyone else would only be required to put forth 4 units and have him carry the damage. He is simply a surrogate for any sufficiently strong finisher you can pick up in the wild.

So why did I do this?

To start simply, I really like Jensen. He doesn't get talked about much, and I wanted to show off his damage potential given the strange amount of love GL gives fist and gun users. It requires stacking, but put in the work and Nanoblade hits like an overloaded semi-truck that isn't on cooldown or tied to a limit burst. Once he gets started, he can keep hitting that hard as much as he wants, but it's typically overkill. Odin is one of the few fights that'll let you appreciate that damage output as he cuts through even the worst of the mitigation.

Second, I wanted to start a conversation about the nature of chainers and the increasing slot-efficiency of finishers. As the game has evolved, chain families have branched out in really interesting ways. While chaining used to be something you'd see almost exclusively on damage dealers, we've got chaining tanks and healers and support units now, and GL seems keen on expanding the families in this kind of way. This opens up for finishers to be more than just vanity units and allows you to build a proper team to cover all of your roles and still do meaningful damage with just 1 damage-dealing unit. Obviously, duo chainers still works really well, but by having utility units gain the ability to chain with other utility units in standardized families, there are some really interesting ways to build your team now.

Finally, it's to show that the 7* meta hasn't killed off the 4* units. Yet.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this as much as I did!
