Overview

Hyoh. What else do you need?

He is a chainer that finishes his own chains, can chain with 2 families and has high imperils for 2 elements. He deals massive damage with TDH, especially that he has W and T casts. He is missing 2 things, imbue and status immunities… but that is basically it.

6★ Notable Abilities:

• LB:

Extreme Nova: Physical damage (12.5x) to all enemies, 30 hits, 25 LS

• The LB chains really well and can chain with LBs like Sakura’s and ARain’s, it is very powerful and is his highest damaging ability if used with a unit that can chain with him.

  • Flame/Voltage Blades:

Physical damage (3.5x) to one enemy, 7 hits (HE chain), 35 MP

Decrease fire or lightning resistance (60%) for 3 turns to one enemy

• His main on-demand imperils, especially at 6★, they deal nice damage but the damage is far surpassed by his main chain

  • Unknown Traitor:

Fixed Physical damage (1.8x) to all enemies, 1 hit, 25 MP

Remove all status effects from all enemies

• Free dispelga for whenever it is needed and is included in the W and T-casts, making it seamlessly used when needed (before or after the chain)

  • Ruthless Blade:

Physical damage (2x) to one enemy, 6 hits, 48 MP

Physical damage (1.5x) to all enemies, 6 hits (OK frames when combined)

• Gives him more versatility with family selection and with AoE chaining and damage

  • Improve Stance:

Cure stats break to caster, 20 MP

Enables access for 1 turn: Triple Blade (T-cast blade skills and Unknown Traitor)

• Useful for setting up in turns when the enemy breaks you, has resistances to damage or when your team needs a turn of setting up.

  • Servant of the Blade:

Physical damage (0.5x) to one enemy, 6 hits (HE frames combined), 52 MP

Physical damage (1.8x) with ignore DEF (50%) to all enemies, 1 hit (finishes the chain)

• This is his main chain as it deals massive damage, especially because of the massive backload on it and using TDH and W and T-casts, it also chains with HE family making him a common chainer to many strong existing chainer (and giving him a good number of elements to use if the enemy is resistant to the imperils he offers)

  • Double Blade:

Use Blade skills or Unknown Traitor twice in one turn

• This skill skyrockets Hyoh from a normal “meh” partial HE chainer to an amazing TDH chainer that can fully chain with HE and OK and do some more.

  • Passives:

• Raw Stats: 50% HP, 20% MP and 80% ATK (loses 50% ATK without greatswords). The HP and MP buffs really help with his sustainability and the 80% ATK (when using greatswords is really good)

• Sustainability: 5% auto-refresh. Very good on him because of the high amount of MP he consumes, making him last longer and recover more quickly (it won’t be enough refresh to sustain him without further refresh)

• LB:

Extreme Nova: Physical damage (19x) to all enemies, 30 hits, 30 LS

• The LB just becomes stronger but needs more LS, worth its price.

  • Phantom Blade:

[5 turns cooldown, available on turn 5]

Physical damage (2.8x) with ignore DEF (50%) to one enemy, 6 hits (HE frames when combined), 99 MP

Physical damage (2.8x) with ignore DEF (50%) to all enemies, 1 hit

Decrease fire and lightning resistance (100%) for 3 turns to all enemies

• This is the best imperil he has and it is the highest damage skill (it also chains with his main chain and HE seamlessly) it is a huge imperil with very high damage it has to be used in alternating turns when 2 Hyohs are used for full 100% imperil on all turns (only having 60% on the first turs till it is available)

  • Way of the Void:

[5 turns cooldown, available on turn 1]

Enables access for 2 turns: Triple Blade

Increase ATK (200%) for 3 turns to caster

Recover HP (100%) to caster

• Similar to Improved Stance, this ability is best used when setup is incomplete or when the enemy has resistances, but this ability is more usable in normal cases as well

  • Passives:

• TM Ability: 100% TDH and 30% chance to counter both types of attacks with the ability to gain a free T-cast. This passive makes his TMR a must-use on him especially when you are expecting occasional hits from the enemy

• Base Stats: 20% SPR and 30% ATK (ATK only when using greatswords). His kit really emphasizes the use of greatswords, but right now - because of the lack of 2H fire or lightning GS - Nalu’s STMR is BiS on him when used with a copy of himself

• Offensive: 0.5x more mods on Ruthless Blade and Servant of the blade becoming

Physical damage (2.5x) to one enemy, 6 hits, 48 MP

Physical damage (2x) to all enemies, 6 hits (OK frames when combined)

and

Physical damage (1x) to one enemy, 6 hits (HE frames combined), 52 MP

Physical damage (2.3x) with ignore DEF (50%) to all enemies, 1 hit (finishes the chain)

• Servant Phantom > Servant Servant > Servant Servant > Servant Servant > Servant Servant >>>

Hyoh 2:

• Servant Servant > Servant Servant > Servant Phantom > Servant Servant > Servant Servant >>>

(Using LB and T-cast whenever available - LB not to be used on Phantom turns)

Swapping Phantom for the other imperil for the first 5 turns.

Casting Phantom first the first time it is used (turn 5)

TMR:

Hyoh’s Clothes: Clothes

• ATK 28, DEF 42, ATK 30% when using greatswords

• Amazing TMR especially for TDH or TDW units that use GS

STMR:

Ultima Weapon: Greatsword

• ATK 180

• Not really worth going after unless you really want to use a TDW GS unit as it is not 2H (Cloud’s STMR is 2H, soon™)

6★ Pros:

• Amazing LB

• Really high mods

• W and T-cast

• Can chain with 2 families

• Nice imperils

• Finishes his own chain

• Auto-refresh

• High ST damage and decent AoE damage

• Even higher mods

• More access to T-cast

• Much higher damage

• Even better imperils

• Innate TDH (with TMR)

Cons:

• Mana hungry

• No imbue

• No status resist

TL;DR:

Hyoh is an amazing chainer and is going to stay relevant for a long time

Honorable Mentions:

Awakened Rain: Will be discussed in the next colors review, he is an amazing magical tank but GL having Chow might not be the best situation for him (he is still going to be amazing for a long time either way)

Domino: LB slave, entrust and LB fill for team

Shatal: Decent tank with provoke and ST cover (kinda reminds me of Gladio)
