Preface
This is by no means a review of the unit itself. These are just some info that I've collected by reading/watching and organized. The aim is to provide a guideline where does the unit stands among other similar units.
Skills
Ailments resistance
Passive skill name | Description |
---|---|
Resist Silence | 100% silence resist |
Resist Paralyze | 100% paralyze resist |
Resist Petrify | 100% petrify resist |
Livid Shantotto starts with a great status ailments resist. She only need to protect herself from sleep and confusion
MAG passive
Passive skill name | Description |
---|---|
Ex-minister of Orastery | 30% MAG/SPR, 50% MP |
Elemental Magic Skill : A | 50% MAG |
You're making me lose my temper, dear! (7★) | 40% MAG, 20% magic/physical counter with self fill 3 LB crystal |
Staff Skill : A (7★) | 60% Equip MAG when wielding a single weapon. |
With 269 base MAG (fully potted), she's no doubt the mage that has the highest MAG stats for a long time. For comparison, 7★ TT "only" has 262 MAG
80% MAG is the great for 6★ mage standard. 6★ Barbariccia also has the same amount of MAG boost.
120% MAG on 7★ form is also competitive. For comparison, enhanced 7★ enhanced TT has 130% MAG passive.
Trivia :
Her DH MAG passive says "Staff", because in FFXI, black mages wield elemental stave (and hence has the highest proficiency, albeit B-, not A like Shantotto), not Rod like in FFBE.
MP refresh passive
Passive skill name | Description |
---|---|
Auto-Refresh | 5% MP recovery per turn |
Clear Mind | 5% MP recovery per turn, gain 1 LB crystal per turn |
7★ Livid Shantotto doesn't have problem stacking her MP to 700~800 without any STMR. So you'd expect 70~80 MP per turn with her MP recovery passive.
Etc skills
Skill name | Description |
---|---|
Camouflage | Decrease target chance by 50% |
Chainspell (?) Trust ability | Use three spells when equipping Laevateinn |
Manawall | AoE 2 turn Mag damage reduction and 500 HP barrier |
Colossal Shantotto | 320% AoE 1 hit dark magic attack, self 1 turn 30% dmg reduction and 120% DEF/SPR |
Keep your eyes on Chainspell. This skill will allow her to synergize with Marie (see below on tier V -ga spells)
Chaining skills
Skill name | Skill Damage/Element/Imperil | Damage Distribution | Avg. Chain mod (spark) |
---|---|---|---|
Doctor's Order | 1120% /Dark /<Dark/Earth> | 7% x6, 58% | 3.612 |
Lesson In Pain | 1100% /Water /<Water/Ice> | 7% x6, 58% | 3.612 |
Empirical Research | 1080% /Thunder /<Thunder/Wind> | 4% x11, 56% | 3.618 |
Final Exam | 1150% /Light /<Light/Fire> | 7% x6, 58% | 3.612 |
These are Livid Shantotto's chaining skill. Keep in mind these skills cost 50% of her LB gauge.
Notice that these skills are backloaded, making the chain modifier has the very similar value as 2x cast Divine Ruination (3.6115).
Also for comparison, a dual cast Awakened Chaos Wave will have 3.535 average chain mod, and a quad cast will have 3.8838 average chain modifier.
If we're going to make comparison to Divine Ruination (skill damage * number of cast * chain modifier), these numbers are about 85%~90% of the 7★ Orlandeau Divine Ruination output.
Speaking of Divine Ruination, Final Exam has the same exact frame like Divine Ruination. So it can chain with single cast Divine Ruination. Doctor's Order, on the other hand, while still having the same 7-5-7-7-7-7 frame, it starts at much later frame.
Lesson in Pain and Empirical Research have no other skills that has similar start time. Therefore, the best chaining partner for these 2 skills are Livid Shantotto herself.
Tier V -ga unlocker skills
Skill name | Description |
---|---|
Elemental Seal | Grant tier V -ga spells for 2 turns, 300% MAG for next cast |
Manafont | (Available turn 1, 12 turn CD), For 4 turns: recover 999 MP, self 150% MAG, unlock tier V -ga spells for 3 turns |
Snap (Lv30) | ST 2400% 7 hit magic attack, 3 turn 70% All elements imperil (except light and dark), unlocks tier V -ga spells for 3 turns |
Livid Shantotto has 3 skills to access her tier -V ga spells. Elemental seal, in particular, gives a massive boost to her MAG, while her maxed LB deal quite high damage and push the imperil further to 70%.
It's interesting to note that her LB is backloaded (10% first 6 hit, 40% on last hit); But due to the delay between hits are very long (70 frame delay between 2nd and 3rd hit), chaining isn't possible.
Tier V -ga spells
Skill name | Description |
---|---|
Stonega V | 1 hit 250% AoE Earth magic attack, 250% each use (capped @1000% on 4th usage) |
Waterga V | 1 hit 255% AoE Water magic attack, 250% each use (capped @1005% on 4th usage) |
Aeroga V | 1 hit 260% AoE Wind magic attack, 250% each use (capped @1010% on 4th usage) |
Firaga V | 1 hit 265% AoE Fire magic attack, 250% each use (capped @1015% on 4th usage) |
Blizzaga V | 1 hit 270% AoE Ice magic attack, 250% each use (capped @1020% on 4th usage) |
Thundaga V | 1 hit 275% AoE Thunder magic attack, 250% each use (capped @1025% on 4th usage) |
Notice that with Chainspell available, you can ramp any of these spells damage mod up to 750% from triple casting them. So the next turn you use it, they will have 1000% value.
Here's the demo how to maximize the output with 2 Marie.
Theoretically you can just do it with 1 Marie, but I guess 2 Marie is more convenient.
Closing
I'm not going to give my opinion on Livid Shantotto. As I've mentioned in preface that I'm simply helping to organize the information and reader can make their own judgment.
FAQ
Q : How about the other tier I spells, Osmose, Bio III, Flood II, and Flare II
A : I don't think they are notable. I'll let the other people review those. But personally I don't think it's worthwhile to cover in "Quick Peek"
