I was curious about Christine's rating on the wiki and decided to see how powerful she was for myself. This trial took me hours the last time I tried it but only about 5 minutes with Christine (not including planning time). So if you've pulled the adorable snow loli but have not yet completed Machina of Destruction, this guide is for you!
Unit | Role | Turn 1 | Turn 2 | Turn 3 | Turn 4 |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Christine (1k MAG) | Damage | Winter Fall | Snow Burial x2 | Snow Burial x2 | Snow Burial x2 |
Christine Friend (1k MAG) | Damage | Winter Fall | Snow Burial x2 | Snow Burial x2 | Snow Burial x2 |
WoL | AoE Cover Breaks | Light is with us | Free turn | Armor Erasor | Armor Erasor |
Meliadoul | Reraise Lassworm | Reraise | Reraise | Reraise | Reraise |
Lassworm | Ice Imperil Punching Bag | Free turn | Ice imperil body | Ice imperil right arm | Ice imperil body |
Garnet | Healer | Free turn | Do healer things | Do healer things | Do healer things |
*Lassworm must have the highest ATK in the party in order to draw the Arm Bursts to him.
*Aigaion cannot drop below 70% on turn 2, that threshold must be crossed on turn 3. Skip the ice imperil or Armor Erasor if your Christines are doing too much damage
*There is some RNG involved. Christine's counter imperil is actually bad, if she applies it to the Right Arm it may die on turn 3, which means that it will have full hp for turn 4 and will most likely survive (and wipe party). WoL also needs to activate his AoE cover otherwise a unit might take two punches and die.
So the strategy is pretty simple, Winter Fall turn 1, soften Aigaion turn 2 (71%-80%), cross threshold turn 3, kill body and right arm turn 4. The left arm will usually survive but at this point the fight basically won since it can't revive the body or the right arm. It will only Arm Burst and do like one attack which is very easy to handle.
All units are interchangable aside from Christine and WoL. Meliadoul and Lassworm can be replaced by a self reviving unit imperiler (Maxwell 9S/Seven/Duke/etc.). Actually you can switch WoL around too for Charlotte/EV/Gladio but you'll have to have SPR breaks on one of your other units. If you have 9S this fight becomes way easier because he does Lasswell's job and can also provide 30% damage mitigation, 40% physical mitigation from pod, regen from pod, and high base ATK. Garnet w/ Prodigy Goggles is needed for the esper mission (stall in the beginning for LB crystals and then use her LB to fill esper gauge, or stall at the end when only the left arm is alive), but if you don't care about that mission then you can use any healer. Garnet is pretty squishy so she will need Great Raven's Cape so she doesn't get punched.
In terms of gearing, focus on HP/SPR for everyone and HP/DEF for WoL. Since we aren't using a buffer, units will need 3k HP 200 SPR to survive genocide beam. And probably 5k HP 250 DEF 250 SPR if they want to survive the beam plus a punch.
There's a bit of RNG involved but I've been able to defeat Aigaion with this strategy three times so it's fairly reliable. Good luck!
