Greetings, all. For a few years now, I've created desktop/laptop wallpapers using the bitmap and sprite graphics from arcade and console games. With how much I've been enjoying it lately, I decided to add Brave Exvius to that list. For those who want to jump right to the goods without reading a lot of text, you can get them off the bottom of the PC Wallpapers page of my blog or just click the links below. They are 1920x1080 but can scale reasonably well up to 2560x1440. (They can scale perfectly to 3820x2160.)

Credit where credit is due! Although it took a fair bit of work putting these together, it wouldn't have been possible without /u/AoPFTW, who posted background images a week ago and then shared some datamined graphics files with me.

Rather than throw random characters together, I tried to put together characters from the same game and pit them against bosses from those games. This went well at first, but kind of ran into a snag because there are no detailed, cool monsters in the game from Final Fantasy IX, so I put Zidane and crew up against Test Subject No. 8. I would have done FFIII vs. Xande if Xande himself was, well, a little better-looking in FFBE.

Some of the sprites for characters are stored as whole images, but others are bits and pieces (head, torso, arms, legs, capes, etc.) that come in dozens of different positions for the various actions and have to be pieced togather, like some kind of puzzle. This would be the reason I did not make a Final Fantasy XIII vs. Chocobo Eater wallpaper; without any of those characters in the game except Lightning, I didn't have a reference to put all their bits and pieces together.

For the most part, I left out lighting and special effects from the game. They usually look good in-game, but in still images they don't really do anything but clutter up the image.

EDIT: Some people have asked about Quina and Edward/Gilbert. There are characters not yet available to us that are in the datamine files. Also, while the game lists "Gilbert" as originating with FFBE, his design matches that of Gilbert/Edward from FFIV and his sprite sheets appear in the same area of the game's data as that of the other FFIV characters, so I decided to use him as such.
