The hate surrounding the Halloween units
Post Body

This thread is not meant to make the Halloween units seem "good", but to make people look at them in the perspective of the state of the game, at the time of their release.

So, in the comments to Nazta's post, where he wrote the Halloween units' stats and abilities, I've seen an incredible amount of negativity towards them, with most people seeing them as nothing but trash, for different reasons.

But I'm pretty sure people don't look at them with the right eyes, and instead just compare them to the present and future god-tier units. So, I'd like to point out a couple things:

1 - These units are not top tier, because they were never meant to be. We'll be able to summon the Halloween units only for these two weeks. If they were excessively powerful, it would be unfair to those who won't happen to get them while they're available. Imagine if units like Tilith or Orlandeau were time-limited in JP. That wouldn't sound really fair, would it?

2 - They will be bad in the future, but are good now. I can understand that most people just want the best of the best. I've seen so many redditors stacking up on lapis and ticket just for Luneth. But try to look at the present time, for a second.

Demon Rain is the one unit with the highest ATK stat in the game, along with the highest counter rate available. He's NOT a tank unit, and many people make the mistake of comparing him to Paladin Cecil. With no shield thanks to Doublehand and a ridiculously low 116 base DEF, I don't know how people were surprised he's not good at tanking by himself.

Dracu Lasswell has a very high ATK as well, a set of abilities very similar to his regular self. His ultimate ability is a strong debuff, comparable (and stronger than) Delita's Crush Armor.

White Witch Fina was the one everyone had their hopes high for, being the first 6* we received. But she's a direct upgrade to regular Fina. While she can't perform well as a solo healer because of her lack of Curaja, she's supposed to be a support, secondary healer, much like Vanille. And while she lacks Curaja and Esuna, she possesses Cheer and Raise and can work well in tandem with many of our current healers.

Black Cat Lid is widely considered the strongest of the four, and many people are disappointed because she's the only one that can't be awakened to 6. She, however, possesses the strongest single target attack in the game, that makes her roughly equal to Kain and the 5 barrage users in terms of damage, and provides a lot of utility to the team.

As of now, these units except maybe for Fina will perform very well in their roles, and we should not forget that these versions of Rain, Lasswell and Fina compose almost 43% of our total 6* unit pool.

3 - Demon Rain cannot be compared to his regular self. While Lasswell and Dracu Lasswell share the very same role and a comparison between the two are reasonable, Rain and Demon Rain are entirely different. In his regular form, the protagonist is a 100% support character, featuring Full Break and Leadership, one of the strongest buffs in the game. His attack is incredibly low for a 6*, and until his enhancements arrive, he won't have any way of dealing acceptable damage. Demon Rain, on the other hand, is entirely focused on the offense, featuring an incredibly high attack, and a "tanking" ability that is just meant to let him use his counter more. While he still lacks good offensive abilities, giving him the Barrage material would turn him into the second best physical attacker at the moment - yet many people despise him as if he was a regular Rain without his buff&debuff.

I've said everything I wanted to say. These are limited edition units meant to represent Halloween, and as of now are a good addition to most teams. I'm pretty sure anyone without a 6* attacker would be happy to find Rain or Lasswell, even if they won't be the best of the best in the long run.

As I've said in the very opening of this thread, I'm not saying they are good or bad; I'm just saying that AS OF NOW they'll be good, and that in my opinion Gumi made the right choice in not making them too strong.

If you disagree (and for what I've seen, many people will), please try to explain your reasoning politely. I'm not here to cause a war or anything.
