I was going to save reviewing Tilith for my upcoming 'Should You Pull?' when the Brave Frontier banner is finally announced but as I see several comments of players planning to save for Tilith including not pulling for Cecil because they are saving for Tilith. I see the sub talking about how amazing Tilith is in Japan (which she absolutely is at 6 star) but with one day remaining on the FFIV banner with Cecil (and with him being one of only two 3 star base characters on his banner so having a decent rate) I just want to make sure you are making an informed decision. Cecil is still a beast of a tank in Japan (with a great TM), with his only real competition being 6 star Warrior of Light -- Warrior of Light's 6 star upgrade is also likely months away based on Japan.

The Tilith in Japan is 6 star Tilith; 6 star Tilith is fantastic. Unless they decide to completely mess up power creep (which seems unlikely, but I'm not a banner prophet) we will receive 5 star Tilith. 5 star Tilith did not receive a 6 star upgrade for slightly over six months in Japan. What does 5 star Tilith bring?

Base Rarity: 4 Star

Weapon types: None

This does not slow down 6 star Tilith due to the nature of the ablities she gains (AOE complete heal), but it's not doing 5 star Tilith any favours.

Equipment types: Hats, Clothes, Robes, Accessories

Pretty standard fare for a healer.

Passives: 10% MAG, 20% MP, 20% SPR, Pretty Aura (Auto Regen in Battle 120HP, 0.6x)

Also pretty standard fare (other than, perhaps, the MAG and regen which is a bonus)

Limit Burst: Heal (1800HP, 3.6x to 4.55x -- based on rank), increase LB gauge fill rate (100%) for 3 turns and cure poison, silence and paralyze to one ally

But obviously, it's the spells that matter:

• Pretty Steel: Remove all status effects from one enemy

  This is identical in everyway to Dispel

• Goddess's Mircale: Heal (1000HP, 3.4x) and cure poison, blind, sleep, silence, paralyze and confuse to all allies

  On status effect heavy fights (such as Golbez) this having Esuna built into your AOE heal obviously helps with ability usage, but in any other situation this is Curaja but costs 67% more mana.

• Celestial Light: Increase ATK/DEF/MAG/SPR (40%) for 2 turns to all allies

  This is Cheer and Focus combined, but only lasts TWO turns and has a hefty 53 MP cost.

• Rainbow Veil: Increase fire/ice/lightning/water/wind/earth/light resistances (40%) for 3 turns to all allies

  This is a unique buff which costs 50 MP, and particularly great in mixed element fights or light element fights (as there isn't currently another AOE buff for light resistance) but if there are only one or two elements this is competing with the bar-element-ra line of spells which cost 12 MP, and increase resistance by a stronger 50% for 3 turns.

• Prism Heart: Magical damage (1.8x) to all enemies

  It's unlikely you'll be able to get her MAG high enough to make this feel worth casting; especially compared to her other high MP cost abilities.

Once she hits 6 star, she's on a whole other level and you can see her full suite of 6 star abilities here.

In Japan the two units she was released with were Karl and Seria which are both also 4 star base characters that I'm not going to review here but neither are very noteworthy making for an overall unimpressive banner. They could put other units on the banner, but as these are all limited time characters, it is very likely that our Brave Frontier banner will match Japans.

Months later once Tilith gets her 6 star upgrade she will return like she did in Japan (as it makes no sense to upgrade her and not allow people to pull for her) on a better (but still not exactly amazing if it matches Japan) banner.

If you want to save up for her on the BF banner and are okay with her being not very impressive for months until her 6 star upgrade, or choose to believe she'll come with 6 star, or she'll get her 6 star early, etc then that's obviously your decision. I just encourage you to research the character you're saving for and the characters you could be missing out on along the way.

TL;DR: Cecil is good. 5 star Tilith isn't amazing. 6 star Tilith IS amazing. 6 star Tilith will be released months from now on a less awful banner.
