Game Crash Issues?

My wife was having very frequent crashing issues when entering battles. The issue is the worst when exploring and crashes enough to make the game basically unplayable. She is using an I-phone 4 running IOS 7.1.2. Are there any known issues with this. Is her phone just to old to run the game?
