Etymology With YinToYang
Post Body

Howdy everyone I'm your host YinToYang. For this little fun segment we'll be looking at the Eytmology of the newest clash boss and their attacks. So let's meet our clash boss Anthemoessa.

The name Anthemoessa is of Greek origin meaning "Flowery" but it is also said to be the name of the island where the Sirens of Greek mythos lived.

This fits well with the bosses physical design and title as The Songstress of Unknown Origin.

Anthemoessa's attacks are mostly musically themed in nature.

"Anthemoessa let out an impassioned trill!"

A trill is usually when a soprano or tenor singer rapidly alters between two notes.

Melismatic Arioso

Melismatic refers to Melisma singing which is where the singer sings a single syllable of text to several notes.

and Arioso which means airy is a type of solo in operatic music performed by a singer. It's kind of a middle ground solo.

Appropriately this move is a single target attack.

Recitativo Secco

Recitativo Secco's are moments in opera that are usually both semi-sung and spoken at the same time.

Aria d'Amore

Literally means "Aria of Love" typically Aria's in opera are long elaborate solo pieces sung by the lead singers or main characters of the opera.

Sharp Caesura

A Caesura in music is a pause or an interruption. Fitting that this attack would inflict stop on the party then.

Cabaletta

An aria with a repetitive rhythm that's usually fast and energetic. In the game's case it's three rapid single target earth magic attacks.

Cavatina

The opposite of Cabaletta. It's an aria that's slower and more contemplative to show off the singer's breath control.

Gentle Smorzando

A Smorzando is a directive when the singing of a piece started dying away suddenly. Another appropriate name for an attack that inflicts both Sleep and Stop.

Dissonant Tritone

A very redundant name. The Tritone is a dissonant interval in music so infamous it's earned the nickname "The Devil's Interval" it's such an unnerving sound in music because our brains are so hardwired to find harmony and symmetry in music that it feels rather apt that this attack induces both Confusion and Petrification.

Toi toi toi!

Similar to how actors say "Break a Leg" instead of "Good Luck" because of superstitions how saying that actually brings bad luck to a show. Toi toi toi is the musical equivalent of this saying.

Sorrowful Diminuendo

A diminuendo in music is where the music is gradually reduced to an almost whisper like quietness.

Rising Stringendo

A stringendo in music is quickening of the music's tempo usually for a climax.

Apotheosis

In Greek myths Apotheosis is the elevation of one's status to a god. It basically signifies one being deified.

Swelling Crescendo

Again another redundant name. Crescendo's a when music starts low and then swells to a much louder volume.

Rondo of Passion

The Rondo is a style of music where it's characterized by the initial statement and subsequent restatement of a particular melody or section.

Hopefully everyone enjoys this little fun segment.
