Not Toying Around LGD - 25 units / 6 teams
Post Body

Was feeling a little masochistic this weekend so I decided to try and clear Not Toying Around LGD with the least possible number of teams I could until I reached 25 units. The initial idea was obviously to use 5 teams total but it didn't quite work in the end.

Team 1 - 3TKO (video)

  • Elly
  • Regina
  • M Xon (100% evade/passive provoker with Phoenix as esper with auto-med)
  • XWQL
  • BB Rem x2

The only thing you need defensively for a 3TKO is everyone with at least 30% wind resist. Regina uses Baraeroga (from Tetra Sylphid) turn 1 so that no one takes damage. Do not reach the 50% threshold on turn 2, otherwise the Elf will use an AoE elementless magic attack. (builds)

Team 2 - 11 turns

  • Beryl
  • Regis (dispelled the team on turn 4 to get rid of the 150% wind debuff)
  • S Luka
  • SoF Vaan (100% evade/passive provoker)
  • Gilgamesh WotV
  • WC Ace

Now I started with the regular teams, with tank, buffer etc. My first time using WotV Gilg as a mage, not so bad! Regis helped them deal more damage with his AoE killers, and the redudancy in buffs was actually great, specially for turn 4 when Regis targeted the team with his dispel ability to get rid of the 150% wind debuff. (builds)

Team 3 - 23 turns (ugh...)

  • Awakened Rain
  • Folka (dispelled the team on turn 4)
  • SS Machina (100% evade/passive provoker)
  • CP Noctis
  • Elena
  • BB Rem

Decided to bring a finisher to speed things up... but it didn't work. This was when I noticed I would have a lot of trouble trying to clear it with all unique teams considering my lack of pure mages. If only I had my own WC Ace or even DH Penelo wich is also a great option for ice fights. (builds)

Team 4 - 13 turns

  • WK Noel
  • Lunafreya
  • Kryla (100% evade/passive provoker)
  • Quistis
  • BB Rem x2 (one of them dispelled the team on T4)

I eventually decided it would be ok to keep using BB Rem as a damage dealer. No need for extra suffering in my life. (builds)

Team 5 - 9 turns

  • Lightning FFXIII-2
  • Yuraisha
  • Sylvie (100% evade/passive provoker)
  • HA Lid (6★) (dispelled the team on T4)
  • BB Rem x2

This team worked really well! HA Lid is an awesome breaker even at 6★, and the redundancy in buffs was great again so I didn't have to worry about someone being too busy. Here I achieved all missions at once, finishing the fight with BB Rem's LB. (builds)

Team 6 - 12 turns

  • A.I. Katy
  • MS Nichol
  • SS Charlotte (6★)
  • A Locke (100% evade/passive provoker)
  • BB Rem x2 (one of them dispelled the team on T4)

My SS Charlotte is only 6★ but she was great as a buffer, providing 40% magic mitigation and wind resist with the Gusty Attack materia. (builds)

And that's it! No, I won't try it with 50 different units in the near future, I'll wait for NV units! PS: Good to know I'm not the only masochistic player around... togeo did even better with 5 unique teams. Hey but he didn't get the no-KO mission!!1!1

General tips for a slow clear:

  • 100% evade/passive provoker with auto-med (Phoenix or the Griever accessory) and preferably stop protection (Supper Ribbon). No need for stop protection if you have someone that can cure it. The provoker will be dispelled during the fight so keep track of their buffs;
  • General mitigation and magic mitigation are needed to survive. The more the better. SPR buffs also help a lot.
  • On turn 4 you'll have to dispel your own team because of the 150% wind imperil (I mean, unless everyone in your team have 250% resist...).
  • Leave the 2nd Elf alone, because when he dies he'll cast death (unavoidable) on a random unit, and 3 turns later the big Elf will summon another one. If you're going to take long to end the fight, however, it's better to deal ice damage to the mini Elf every turn (that's why my HA Lid has an ice weapon for instance, even though I ended that fight quickly), otherwise his elementless magic attack will keep getting stronger and they might be a problem for your mag tank.
  • If all your units have 100% wind resist, you won't need a buff. My BB Rem (and some other units) only had 30% or 50% wind resist, so I always had to use someone to apply a wind resist (like Baraerora, Baraeroga, Gusty Attack materia or Winter Ward materia.
