Background & Prep: Bachelors in materials science and engineering from India, currently working full time. Little to no exposure to fluids, electrical or instrumentation classes. Started prep on Dec 6th 2023. Watched Mark Matson & Gregory (statics, dynamics, ethics, probability and fluids) Issac walt (thermo), FE Ascent (econ), Organic chem tutor (electrical and instrumentation) on YT during the first week @ 2X speed. Did that again one week before the exam. Studied using Lindenberg (2008 book), didn't bother doing the diagnostic exams. At one point about half the practice problems at the end of each chapter were dishearteningly hard lol. I was also using Rashid Islam for relevant sections during this time.
Signed up for PPI2Pass during the last week of December - scored around 55% on about 300 questions. I feel, one of the best resources for other disciplines is the digital version of Lindenberg book on PPI2PASS and their practice problems. To boost confidence, signed up for prepfe -completed 200 problems. I was scoring about 70-80% on most subjects, electrical and instrumentation were kicking my ass. Completed NCEES practice exam two days before exam with about 65%.
Overall, I spent about 250 hours towards prep. Majority of this time was from the christmas break.
Exam day: Finished the first part in less than 2 hours - had to guess answers for 3 questions. I guessed answers for about 4 questions on part 2. For some reason, stoichiometry/combustion made no sense in my head during the exam lol. Left the exam hall 15 mins before the end. I have never felt better upon completing a set of FE questions.
Thanks to everyone on this sub for creating and maintaining this amazing resource! FE might seem impossible at times, you can do it!
