Hi all! Wanted to check back-in and provide an update on the maddening PMU y'all provided for me! As a recap, here were the choices (listed in order of appearance)
- Alear - Sword General w/ Tiki
- Griffon Knight (Axe) Vander with Veronica.
- Wyvern Knight Alfred with Ike
- Warrior Etie!Lyn
- Mage Cannoneer Boucheron!Micaiah
- Paladin Jean!Eirika
- Yunaka Sniper with Chrome. For skills Wrath and the one from Camilla that deals damage after crit.
- Alcryst Enchanter with Lucina. Skills can be avoid 30 and Luna brace
- Lapis hero/marth Skills can be your choice!
- Bow Knight Amber!Edelgard/3H
- Mage Knight Jade!Camilla
- Mage knight pandreo with soren. If youโre asking for skills also, draconic hex and resonance if you can swing it with all the skill books from the dlc
- Panette as a Thief with Roy. For skills, Vantage and Wrath/Reprisal and give her a forged Peshkatz as a weapon :)
- Dancer Seadall!Sigurd
- Goldmary - Great Knight (Lance, Axe) with Leif emblem. For skills, Quick Riposte( ) and Lifesphere( / ). Though also Hit 25/30 would also make sense if you have enough healers that you don't need Lifesphere.
Currently, I'm on chapter 15 in Maddening. I've unlocked all the requisite DLC emblems but didn't finish Hector's map to avoid over-leveling too high. Because I finished all of the DLC emblem maps, though, I am a bit higher leveled than the main story so I'm avoiding emblem paralogues until I've caught up.
Some noteworthy encounters:
- Chapter 4 - A land in bloom: Louis died near instantly without the ability to clear the mage next to him. Without any magic damage, and with minimal growths so far, I had no units who could deal damage to Rodine individually. That, paired with no healers yet, meant I had to trap Rodine between Vander and Alfred paired with an Alear on a tower to provide the damage reduction/buff for adjacent allies and chip 1 damage at a time at him until eventually I conquered. Grateful that I stocked up on vulneraries before this map.
- Chapter 5 - Retaking the Castle: This map was a killer that took me five or six attempts, and so far is the only map where it forced me to use tonics. Still without a healer, I found myself equipping Celica to Alfred and warp ragnaroking to deal with the thief rush and (eventually, slowly) cleared the outside of the throne room.
- I tried to tackle the Tiki paralogue after chapter 6, but even with newfound Yunaka and Jean bolstering my forces, I simply did not have enough to handle even stalling out the reinforcements each turn. I ended up clearing chapter 7 to grab Alcryst and Lapis and used the master seal to make Lapis into her hero class instantly. Then Tiki paralogue, again after several attempts of rushing it, I wound up stalling through the reinforcement waves for some 30-odd turns and then slowly taking on the remnants.
- Between chapters 7 and 14, I cleared the Veronica, Soren, Chrom, and Camilla DLCs; cleared the Fell Xenologue, and have made all available units into their final classes. Weak points in my team are definitely still staff users. Vander as a griffon knight only gets staff proficiency of C, so I am going to fall-off quickly when it comes to the lategame staves.
- The Boucheron Mage Cannoneer with Reprisal Micaiah was fantastic for the few chapters I had Micaiah; however, now that Bouch is Micaiah-less, he is becoming more like a potato gun than a proper cannoneer whereas previously his accomplishments included one-shotting a heart off Ivy and Hyacinth.
As of writing this, I'm pleasantly optimistic about at least getting to end-game for this maddening run. However, once there, I am quite worried that my units are going to hit some ceilings and get overrun.
My added challenges are:
- Once I have all of my units, I no longer have the ability to restart a chapter. If I lose a unit, I lose a unit and must continue progressing so long as the chapter is beatable.
- Each chapter I must field the lowest total stat rating composition I can (thankfully Vander is always included, as his stats, even with investment and some buffs, are total garbage).
- If I get to under 10-units, I am allowed to pick-up Anna and use one of the Anna class suggestions from the original post.
Thanks for the fun y'all, and hope you enjoy reading this re-cap!
