FAT things to do in Cairo/Luxor/Aswan/Abu Simbel

Planning to spend a few days in Egypt in January. Mostly in Luxor/Aswan area (have been in Cairo before, briefly). Talking to some local travel agents, everyone has the same menu. Plan is - day in Cairo, and 2 nights each in Luxor and Aswan. Probably not interested (and don't have time for) a cruise, private or otherwise, which so far has been the only FAT thing offered.

Also hotels- Sofitel in Aswan only has king size bed suites left for our dates, and we need 1 king/2 twins.

The other options in Luxor and Aswan look very resort-y, which is really really not our preference. Of the choices, which has the least "family resort" feel?
