Is documentation of parent who provided most support ever required?

Post Body

I have twins completing the FAFSA soon. Their father and I (separated since 2021) share 50/50 custody and I receive $400 a month child support for each of them because he has greater financial assets and income. My income was zero in 2022 because I was preparing for a new career.
Will that throw up a red flag if I apply as the parent that provided the most support?
Will I be required to show documentation?
