Drivers end up without contract?

So i started with Mercedes and as you guys know Hamilton has a contract with Ferrari starting 2025. But at the start of the 2025 season Hamilton was all of a sudden without contract and i thought lets sign him again.

So i am playing the 2025 season and Hamilton again gets an offer from Ferrari and i let him go because i wanted to have Kimi in 2026. But i also wanted to see if i can get Verstappen (who was at Williams) instead of Russel. But he also already agreed to sign for Ferrari in 2026 (Hamilton and Verstappen at Ferrari would be crazy)

But now i started the 2026 season and all of a sudden both are without contract and Ferrari has Liam Lawson and Haugen, like whats the issue with the game here?

Idk. I've played 22 and 24. I still choose 22 with the 1991 mod
