I've read some sad stories about people asking for help from the church and there being strings attached---required to attend a service, become a member, heavily scrutinizing your spending habits, etc.
We really make struggling people jump through so many hoops to get assistance and it's sad. Then there's being poor, but not poor enough in the eyes of the government to be deserving of aid and all the technicalities you have to surmount.
I resigned from my position for personal reasons, and in the interim, was messaging organizations for financial assistance to hold me over (for the next 1-2 months ideally especially since I'll be traveling for the holidays) until my next job/paycheck.
Still waitint to hear back from churches in my area, but the progressive christian group of former evangelicals I posted in, declined my post as it violated one of their community guidelines. I get it, unfortunate though.
This isn't my first time being unemployed, but it is my first time working up the courage to ask others for help like this. For those of you who have been in similar situations, how do you cope? How do you go about doing this?
