My take on this is that it’s easier to hand over your life to a make believe man in the sky then to take responsibility for it all. My parents did a lot of shitty things to us as kids under the guise of religion. Dr James Dobsons teachings were one of the many heinous ideals adopted in my childhood home. That along with molestation. I can imagine that at age 73 it’s very hard to look back on all that and admit your wrong and did a A TON of harm.
