I've played a simple cheap 6-string Ibanez forever, I've moved to a new place and now I'm looking to upgrade on that seriously.
I like listening to stuff like Animals as Leaders, Spiritbox, and Currents. I'm leaning more towards an 8-string as I don't think I would be buying another guitar for a long time after this. I like what I'm hearing about headless guitars, esp because of the weight difference.
Am I missing anything crucial about owning an 8-string? I've searched around and I'm fine with the tradeoffs(bigger size, larger frets, takes time getting used to) so far.
I can get the Ormsby Goliath for AU$2050 and the price seems very reasonable. The Strandbergs cost AU$3000.
Second question: Is the Strandberg worth that extra AU$1000?
I know a lot can come down to personal preference, and I'm planning to go check these guitars out at a store soon. Any help/guidance would be really appreciated!
