Tech leads: Is this a good daily practice?
Post Body

I was tasked with leading a team full of juniors and only one senior. 6 months into the job, the biggest problem that my team was clueless on how to implement things and were often downplaying their status during daily stand ups and coming to me for questions, which was overwhelming me.

I was experimenting and came up with a "daily status blog" system:

Multiple times a day, I post a bullet list of highights of recent developments with user stories, pull requests, major problems, etc. The format is kind of like below:

Mid Day Update

  • Product 1
    • Update/objective 1
    • Update/objective 2
  • Product 2
    • Update/objective 1
    • Update/objective 2

From my experience, this is really helping my team members see the bigger picture of what everyone is working on, and be more involved with the work of each other. It also keeps people accountable to complete the objectives.

Is there a name for such system, or is anyone else doing a similar thing? I want to optimize this plan and help this team be more autonomous.
