Holiness Pentecostal my whole life. Yes I went to the semi cult churches. Thankfully God sprinkled some extra wisdom over me and allowed me to think for myself on certain things. I am still very much conservative but I live in my own convictions and not what the church dictates they are
I grew up as a Trini and still am but currently a member of a Oneness AP church, so...
I find it interesting that Apostolics claim "Jesus" "Jesus" "Jesus"...Jesus Only but their belief system is literally in their name "Apostolic," meaning they follow the teachings of the Apostles which is why they reference Acts so much.
But if its all about Jesus, why wouldn't you follow the LITERAL words of Jesus in Mat 28:19 where He commands baptism in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost?
If those were Jesus' last words to me, thats what I'm doing.
But not once have I heard anyone in an apostolic church read, much less preach, about Mat 28:19
Which is sad considering its ALL God's word. Which again brings me back to, if it's Jesus only, wouldn't you preach ALL the "WORD" (Jesus).
Why is it so scary for them to even mention Mat 28:19? In my old trini church we were taught that the Word is ALL Word of God. We never skipped verses. Never avoided any verses. In fact, if you did, it just showed you didnt really follow the Word of God.
