The urge to contact
Post Body

I've been told it's a bad idea to break no contact. But, my ex was also my best friend, and made a mutual decision to end things. I still see them posting on Instagram. For some context, they're non binary, but their family didn't accept them so they hid that side of themself, while secretly wishing they could try more feminine styles to explore their identity. However, last night they posted a photo of themself wearing some makeup, and today a post talking about how they felt really good about themself wearing makeup last night. Seeing these things, I get to urge to tell them- "I'm so happy for you that you tried to express your identity more and so glad you've been finding happiness." I'm so proud of them for finally doing more to explore their indentity and I'm glad they're happy. I just wish we could talk so I could show my support, even just as a friend. Do you think we could start talking again as friends as long as we don't bring up our relationship issues? If I can manage to not bring up our relationship and not start talking about stuff like how much I still love them, surely I can say things to support them as a friend like telling them I'm proud they're expressing themself and glad they're happy?
