I was in a relationship with a woman from 2019 to 2022. I am convinced she is the love of my life. We split about a year ago and mostly had no contact until my birthday this April (little nibbles on both ends, but nothing major). She wished me a happy birthday and I just said, "Thanks!" I didn't say anything more than that, though I wanted to.

Later that month, she called me and professed her love. She said she made a mistake in moving to a different state and wants to come back to California. She asked me if I still loved her and I said I did. We were talking a lot. Then, a person I had been dating stated they were pregnant and we’re getting an abortion.

Around this time, I saw my ex making playlists for someone named Alex. I asked her about it and she said she's seeing someone new and it was recent. I was confused and hurt. Did this Alex person know that she had called me in the middle of the night and professed her love for me recently? I accepted her new relationship, though, and told my ex about the abortion. She said she was sorry I was in this situation, and needed time to process.

This has been very painful for me to process, and I would like to hear people's feedback on this situation.
