Hi everyone, here's the story, let me know what you think.
I've been playing Eve on and off since 2011, and just came back to it after a longer break than usual. I decided to try a Sniper fit Dominix for Level 4 missions, and thought I would test it on some NPCs before starting the mission.
I opened my scanner, picked a random Angel anomaly in my hi sec system (Lutrevisk). When I got there, I didn't find any rat, just a bunch of structures and cans. I deployed my sentries and targeted something named Abandoned Container. It was white on HUD, and looked like a broken piece of ship, like so many other things you find in anomalies.
I shot it, and got immediately flagged as criminal, took a security hit, Concord warped in, and I got blown to pieces.
I am positive the can did NOT belong to another player. I petitioned CCP with the whole story, and their response was:
"Capsuleer: I am sorry for the loss of your ship. However I went trough the logs and I was able to find out what happened exactly. At 22:54:38 hours eve time, on February 2nd, you engaged another player on Lustrevik, a Hi-sec system, this branded you as "Criminal", when this happens CONCORD will search and engage you. If you have any further questions be sure to let me know, I will do my best to assist you.*
That pissed me off. I would NEVER attack aother ship in Hi Sec, there was NO ship anywhere near me, I was alone in the anomaly, just shot an NPC object, how the hell can the log show that I attacked another pilot?!?
Has anyone ever experienced anything like this? I would usually let go, but we're talking about roughly 600 million ISK, I want to use any recourse I have.
UPDATE: I realized that the anomaly I warped to (A Demonstration) is part of the Minmatar story arc, and that when you run it, you are supposed to analyze the can I shot. So it's DEFINITELY not player-owned one, but is it normal that Concord responded to me shooting it?!?
Update 2: I'm back home, here is the log part where I shot the can and got Concorded:
Final Update: I got my Dominix and full fit put back in station!!! First time I ever get reimbursed in 6 years!!!
