Where to spend 4 days (in France or elsewhere) after Olympics?

Post Body

Will be in Paris for Olympics this summer and would like to get out of Paris and visit another destination from August 1-4.

I have never been to other parts of France, so this could be a good opportunity to explore. My priority will be good food, cute towns, cool shopping, and hopefully not being in places mobbed with other tourists. Also, will want to be somewhere more chill after the craziness of Olympics.

Right now, I have thought to go south, spend time at a vineyard in Provence, explore Marseille, maybe take a boat tour around the Calanque or stay in a smaller beach town.

1) Based on the above plan, where would you make your home base for this trip?

2) Is there another region of France that would better fit what I’m looking for at this time of year?

3) I’ve also considered leaving France because many other parts of the country could be mobbed with Parisians escaping the Olympics at this time. Considering doing Azores. Any other recommendations in Europe for a place to go for 4 days that’s accessible from Paris and not another big city??

Thanks!
