Dobrodošli, novi slovenski člani! A quick how-to guide for r/EuroCoins :)
Post Body

Welcome to the r/EuroCoins server. We have no idea why the reddit algorithm suddenly decided to advertise our subreddit to all Slovenes, but we very much appreciate the influx! (thank you den415 for the translated greeting, by the way.)

Before you make some posts and comments on this subreddit, please read this post so that you can avoid your post being removed unnecessarily.

Join the EuroCoins discord. Our discord server is far more active than this subreddit, so if you want a quick answer (or want to join a nice and active community!), you will find that our discord is a far better place to be in! https://discord.gg/eurocoins-555331630206681108

Please keep all posts in English. This subreddit is a place for members from all over the eurozone to post. However, the average person from the eurozone will not understand Slovenian. Additionally, moderation is much more difficult for us if conversations are made in a different language. Therefore, we kindly ask that you keep all posts in English, as the majority of Europeans have some working knowledge in English. A short transliteration of what is written on a coin (if it is in Slovene) is fine, as are greetings or a short phrase in Slovene. Anything beyond this, (especially entire conversation threads) will be removed, however.

Is your coin rare or valuable? The short answer is, very likely not. Most people like to list their (very common) coins on the internet and claim it is worth thousands - hence, gauging whether or not your coin is rare on ebay/pintrest/etc. without any prior experience doing so is not going to get you an accurate answer. That being said, there will always be exceptions - even a regular Slovene 10 cent coin can be a bit rarer than one might think (though certainly nowhere in the range of hundreds of euros).

Keep in mind that rarity doesn't mean the coin is extremely valuable. For example, this coin from 2008 is very rare, but certainly not worth above even 5 euros.

So, is your coin rare? Start by doing your research of the coin on websites like https://en.numista.com/ - if the mintage is very high (>1,000,000) and it is for circulation, your coin is very likely not valuable, and even if your coin is an exception to that rule, the value would very likely only increase by a few cents. As for errors, the general rule of thumb is 'If you can't see the error immediately, it's likely not valuable' - this would eliminate small scratches on coins which are definitely PMD (post-mint damage) and not worth anything at all.

That being said, if you are still extremely confused or completely lost, feel free to post a picture (or do so on our discord) and we will comment some more information on what you found.

Low effort/troll posts. We want our subreddit to be about coins and discussion around coins. Please be friendly to others when answering questions and treat everyone with respect. Rather than posting a Slovene flag or some jokes about how our subreddit is being suggested to Slovenes, use the opportunity to post some of your Slovene coins or questions related to them. Slovenia's coin designs are really neat, and we'd love to see more of your coins!

Lastly, if you ever need any help or have any questions, feel free to contact the mod team.
