UPDATE: I cancelled it! I half expect to wake up to a snippy reply but oh well, better than proceeding and causing a bigger headache for myself.
For reference, I am in Toronto, Canada and this is an order placed from Wisconsin USA. Yesterday, she sent me a message prior to ordering, asking if I could ship it for it to come by the weekend, and before I could reply, she ordered. I sent a message informing her that’s not enough time for delivery with basic shipping (4-10 business days) and that if she needs it by the weekend she would need to upgrade her shipping option. If you’re unfamiliar with shipping in Canada, it’s VERY expensive for domestic shipping. To ship over the border and express it is approximately $15 more, in addition to the $10 she paid. I told her this is the only option that would guarantee delivery.
My processing time is set to 1-2 weeks, so the expectation to ship ASAP, as in the same day or next, is unreasonable. When someone says they need something by a date that is doable, I’m happy to accommodate and complete their order quickly. She thought $10 was enough for express shipping and I told her the cost goes up for quicker delivery. I sent her another message requiring a response by a set time if she wanted it shipped ASAP so I could get to the post office and she replied saying $10 she paid is a fortune for a necklace and to ship ASAP, she will not pay more than $10. Normally I would agree, but there is a cost if you’re ordering with a tight deadline.
The part that got me was at the end she wrote “I would like good customer service”. I have 4000 sales and very few poor reviews so I’m thinking of just cancelling the order to save myself the potential headache of an already dissatisfied customer? If I cancel the order does she have any period of time to leave a review? They really be out here resting my patience lately 🤨
