I recently bought something from a seller.
In the photo, there were 3 big things and 2 small things. The 3 big things had certain writing. The 2 small things had other writing. All 5 things were the same color.
When I got my order, I got 2 big things and 3 small things. The writing was different (what was on a big thing was on a small thing and vice versa). Also, although all of mine were the same color (blue), 4 of them were 1 shade of blue and the 5th was a different blue. Not completely different, but different enough that both in person and in photos is was obviously a different shade of blue.
I wrote them and told the seller that I wouldn't have purchased had the photo been like what I got. I included a photo, and told them that I'd like a replacement that follows the original format of the listing, and are all the same color (and I truly don't care/expect it to match the color in the photos; I just want everything to match, as it did in the photo). I included a photo showing the items I received. I told them that I'd be happy to ship them back.
Seller agreed to do all of that, and has given me their address, which is overseas (I'm in the US, they're in the EU). The last time I returned something that wasn't as advertised, the seller sent me a shipping label. It seems that this seller wants to me ship back on my own dime.
I'm wondering how to handle this. Do I respond and say I expected a shipping label? Am I being unreasonable for expecting them to cover shipping as well as send me something that matches what I ordered?
On one hand, I feel a little silly for caring about this at all. I really mulled it over before contacting them. But at the end of the day, I contacted them because I really wouldn't have bought it if what I got was what was advertised and I feel like it's on them to actually ship what they showed in the photos. And they're probably going to either break even or maybe lose a bit of money on this sale, with the shipping costs, but it feels really unfair to put that on me, when they didn't ship what they listed.
I would love some advise on pushing back on them sending me a shipping label overall the attitude to have about this. I worry about sounding like a jerk.
