Scamming?
Post Body

I was looking for some anime coasters for a friend's housewarming. Obviously I searched and looked through the results and found something I liked and ordered it. Then I remembered that I forgot to add a gift message so I messaged the seller asking to put it on the gift tag. I forgot about it and wanted to check up a few days later, and the seller said that he would do that, but that item wasn't in his shop atm. Which I was confused by, since I had just ordered it a few days prior. So I went and searched specifically the item I ordered and took screenshots of his result coming up and when I click on it, the result saying that it was in stock and ready to be shipped in 1-2 days. It should be noted that the search result that I clicked on was marked as an "Ad" - but when I messaged the seller originally from that ad, it took me directly to the seller (as you would think it should). But I received no confirmation email from etsy and it's nowhere to be found in my order history. Everything on my end processed as if I had ordered it. I checked my account and nothing had been paid to etsy for that day or anywhere else for that specific amount.

So is it possible to have such an elaborate scam through etsy? Like, I would get it if it were asking me to pay on a different site or whatever, but everything seemed to go through like it was etsy and I'm not only incredibly confused, but beyond annoyed. Any help on this?
