Shipping larger items
Post Body

I am in Idaho and have a customer in Virginia who wants to purchase a corner shelving unit from me. The unit is l-shaped and fits into a corner and is 5" deep, with each end of the L shape extending out from the corner 20", and it's roughly 21" tall. I'm assuming that this means I'm going to need a larger box (22x22x22) to ship it in and since UPS/FexEx charges by 'dimensional weight' now, they want well over $100 to ship.

What do you guys do? How do you handle shipping larger items that are too small for freight but too large for standard shipping? Am I better off just telling the customer I can't ship it for cheaper than that and leave it up to him?
