Hi hi~
Just posting here to say a few things regarding that transparency project that I'd started in March.
First off, I'm not dead; I still fully intend on making these patches for all 3DS EO games. That said, there's a few things that kind of hamper my ability to do so:
- I got a job again ;p working at a pool place, and with summer on the horizon, i will not only be very busy - but also very tired when I'm not working.
- Warped Savior doesn't want to let me kill him un-chemmed. Formulated a bit of a better strat than what I had originally with help from acea, but gonna have to grind out a lot of speed books sigh. I don't really feel driven to work on EOU's patch since I'm not currently playing it (I started working on it, but stopped halfway through the Landsknecht skills).
- My laptop ain't that great. And by that, I'm referring to the fact that compared to IV's ~3k skill entries (each level of a skill is one entry; and classes with the same skill technically use different versions of it), EOU has ~11k. And since the program I'm using (Kuriimu) lags for a good three seconds or so when I've edited an entry (it apparently has to update the entire table of entries when I've only edited one), editing text will be slow going and I will probably have to take it in chunks lest I succumb to rage at my less-than-ideal computing power.
Also, I'm looking into making some minor bug fixes for games I'm patching. At the moment that is Chase Bind gaining damage per level like it's supposed to instead of staying at 100% damage at all levels, as well as 1 Bind Ecstacy doing less damage from levels 11-15 than 0 Bind Ecstasy. I feel most people would welcome these fixes, so I was going to bundle them with the transparency patches. But for the select few that would rather not have these bug fixes be a part of the patch normally, I'll simply include a secondary patch that can be merged with the transparency one so that you have the option to use the fixes or not.
And a heads-up to anyone looking to use the future patches that I make: installation will not be a simple drag and drop like EOIV was, due to the format that the game runs in normally. So there's two ways that this can go.
1) I can distribute the patch as a complete, packed archive. This method is easier to install (a simple drag and drop), but borders with the not-so-nice side of the law.
2) I can write a guide of sorts to enable you to play the game and patch it in much the same way that EOIV works. This method is more convoluted (I will of course do my best to make the guide as clear as I possibly can), but is well within the nice side of the law.
Hopefully I can finish this before EOX drops in Japan (probably not lol), since I'll be wanting to make a patch not only to get a head start for if/when it gets localized, but also to help out all you guys that want to play the game in JP, since this will probably be more enjoyable than basically playing at your computer to have to look things up all the time.
That's all I have for you guys for today, I think. I want to do these patches ASAP myself, so I'll do my best to work on them when I can. Toodles!
EDIT 1: Fixing Chase Bind is a lot more complex than I had originally thought; and trying to fix it is not only outside the scope of what I know how to to, but it also wouldn't be that much of an improvement over the damage the skill does now. So rip in Chase Bind, I guess.
EDIT 2: WS is ded. Thanks /u/aceaofivalia for your counsel on the matter.
EDIT 3: You can keep track of my progress here.
