I'm totally new to ENM - so new that I've not even really started in ENM - but through this place, I feel that when I do, I will be ready and much of this is squarely back on all of you, thank you. I really do feel that out of the handful of nonmongamy subreddits out there, this is truly the best of them. It's smaller, but the conversations and opinions are so much more impactful, intellectual, non-judgemental (minus a few), and nowhere near as toxic when things aren't perfectly aligned with the herd mentality.
I'm in my 40's, a single mother of one, and was in a straight, monogamous, dead bedroom marriage for almost 20 years. After my divorce, which was amicable, I did some soul searching and reflection and came to realize that being heterosexual and monogamous wasn't my path forward. Like everything else in my life, once I figured out what I wanted and didn't want, I set out to gather as much information as possible on all things non monogamy. This is actually what led me to Reddit. I've been lurking for almost four years now and I've had some mishaps along the way, but I always end up back here searching to see who else has found themselves in similar situations.
I don't want to sit here and put the other subreddits down - mainly because I know a lot of you are also in those - but I'm just glad to see that the people here don't share the hive mentality that I've found elsewhere. It really does seem like everyone here has genuine respect for others and are more respectable to 'That's not how I do ENM, but if you're not hurting anyone, you do you.' I love this and this is more unique to this community than anywhere else.
Thank you all!
