Thoughts on the book "The Ethical Slut"?

I've seen it said by some that it's amazing and by some saying it has a lot of problems and is dated. I don't see a lot of in-between.
For a couple that has opened the marriage up because the wife has come out as gay, how helpful might it be to help establish guidelines and boundaries to make sure the marriage is protected?
We're actually doing really well. I am just trying to find resources to help make sure we are practicing ENM in a way that is good for everyone and realize that our situation is not just a straight couple looking for other straight people.
