She passed away 8/31/23 and I was informed today 9/9/23. The family reached out to me on FB and said to have my wife call them, it's about her mom. Well, I'm not just going to sit on that message, so I got to work. I really wish I hadn't.
It wasn't sudden at all, she suffered for what appears to be a year. The post didn't mention anything about my wife, not a surprise, but it did mention how long she fought to spend time with her husband and son (wife's half-brother).
As I'm typing, my wife is out having lunch and enjoying her Saturday. I was supposed to be at work until 7pm but my boss is a legend and let me go take care of it, no loss of pay. So I told her we got all our work done and I'd meet her at home.
Edit: So I broke the news and when she got home. Thank you so much to everyone who kept me sane while I waited. Those stories and advice really made it easy to do what I needed to do
I've never had to tell someone their mother passed away. If the shoe were on the other foot and it were my mother, I wouldn't want to hear it from my family. So I'm going to tell her after she gets home & settled in.
So any positive energy is welcome, but I'd really like to hear from you if you've been in a similar boat. Have a lovely weekend, y'all 💜
Thank you very much. I'm anxious so I'm cleaning anything I can lol. I probably would have tackled a lot of this anyway so I'll just go ahead and get started on dinner. Pasta so if she doesn't want to eat we can just save it for tomorrow or later tonight.
She asked my opinion on eyeshadows a few minutes ago via text so it looks like she's one step ahead on that front lol.
Thank you. I'm glad that I made the right choices when I was COMPLETELY out of my depth
Edit because autocorrect hates me
Aww thank you, I'm really trying. We're all each other has, besides friends of course.

Thank you. I figured I'd be older when something like this happened (both 30s)
