My father has been working out of country since I was 3. I'm 30F now.

Mother has passed for 10y now. If she was living we woulda been estranged as well.

So today I got an email...

Father: Blah blah holiday greetings, informed me of his arrival and duration in our home country.

Me: Thank you for the information.

Many people know that this person is not the best in communication, and I feel like it is implied that I should pay a visit bc this is a once in a blue moon occurrence although not explicitly stated.

I tried to keep my cool. In the past a greeting for an occasion could trigger me. But now I feel calm.

Anyone else who has experienced this? Suggestions on how to handle this is appreciated.
