1. Sucks losing to these assholes but it wasn’t terrible. We honestly had control of a lot of that game outside of 10 minute periods in the 2nd and 4th quarters.

2. We looked better with 2 rucks last season, we looked better with 2 rucks to start this season and now we go back to having 1. Draper can’t come back soon enough, goldy was okay but I lost track of the amount of times TDK grabbed it out the ruck tonight.

3. THE MIDDLE FUCKING STICKS. Carlton couldn’t miss all night and we couldn’t kick a goal to save our lives. Could have gone differently on another day. To add to this, way too many kicks to a pack in the goalsquare that were easy to punch through. If you can’t make the distance, put it 20m out not 5m out

4. We had these guys on toast last year and they went into the bye in 15th position or something and stormed back. We are gonna hear all week now that Carlton are the 2nd best team after Sydney and if that’s the case I’m not super worried. We will probably still be in the top 4 even after not playing next week.

5. Nic Martin needs to stay in the forward half, he murders us kicking it out of the backline tbh and I’d rather he has 20 touches with 3 shots on goal and 8 score involvements then the seagull 32 disposals and no impact he’s been having this year

6. Curnow, McKay, Walsh, cripps all really didn’t do much. I’m struggling to work out where they actually beat us but it was just efficiency going inside 50 and lesser name players not missing a single shot on goal

7. We need this bye so bad. We are going to launch into the 2nd half of the season from 4th or 5th. All teams have lulls in a season and hopefully we’ve learnt from the last 2 weeks. Duursma, Draper, Redman, Parish to all come back will help a lot too.

I’m mad and we all are but we can’t fault the effort tonight, only the execution. More disposals, more tackles, more inside 50s, more shots on goal. The Carlton fans will be lippy and smug which is a given and all the other fans will be giving us the fraud treatment but let’s keep our heads up and keep supporting the lads. Need more from Langford, stringer, 2MP, gresham and Perkins after the bye. Even Merrett has been a bit less impactful recently, but his bar is set so high and he owes us nothing so I can live with him being a touch down, I know he will bounce back

I’m sad but not disheartened, we are still right in the hunt, let’s not act like the world is caving in on itself. We’ve all seen the 2nd half of the year downfalls before but have some belief until it actually starts to happen, and remember everyone predicted we would finish 12-14th this year.
