I've been in the hobby for over a decade but I am new to reddit. One thing I've seen on this sub and other sub is just potential clients seem to be scared, paranoid and afraid. It gets a bit exhausting, frankly, especially when this sub and other subs are filled with information on how to do this safely.

While a bit of paranoia is good, what everyone needs to realize is that there is an inherent level of risk in this hobby/profession, for both us clients and the providers. You can do everything in your power to mitigate risk and some risk will still be there. Things can go wrong. We're breaking the law and social taboos. There are potential consequences no matter what.

Also, even weirder are the guys who, sometimes due to fear, won't try to mitigate that risk. Screening is the one tool a provider has to make sure you're not a rapist or murderer. If you can't be bothered to help the provider mitigate her risk by providing references or info, why should she try to make you feel safe or take the risk of giving you a BJ without a condom? If you don't look at reviews or try to verify the girl, what do you expect to find when you get there?

If you can't handle this, don't do it. You have to realize at any time you can get ripped off, robbed, outed or arrested. The provider can also get ripped off, robbed, outed or arrested while also facing the risk of getting raped and murdered. I haven't even mentioned STDs yet. This hobby is inherently dangerous. That being said, there is tons of information on how to do this safely. I have never come close to being arrested or even ran into LE. I only got ripped off once about a decade ago. That stopped once I started following the advice and rules others have laid out in subs like this. If you can't handle the risk or take the steps to mitigate that risk, well than work on your marriage with your wife or cheat on her with a civilian and see how that goes.
