Can we do phone number 2factor auth to establish more hurdles against multi accounts/hacks?

In NA based games, a lot of competitive games require 2 factor auth with your phone number. Not sure about other countries but I think this would be a great way to secure accounts and also reduce the possibility of multi accounts/hackers.
